This week, there was unrest over the Russian presidential palace in Moscow as two drones reportedly violated the airspace. This makes the monitoring and optimization of airspace even more critical. High-tech companies such as Star Navigation Systems are taking action precisely where Moscow seems to be cutting corners a little too much. Thanks to modern technology, real-time data can be analyzed, and responses can be made accordingly. High-tech also requires the necessary chip and cloud technologies. Investors were thus able to follow AMD's first results this year with excitement. Are they really ahead of their competitor NVIDIA? The latter company finds its use in the new partnership between FREYR Battery and Siemens.

Star Navigation Systems - Securing airspace with innovative high-tech products

This week, two drones exploded over the Kremlin in Moscow. The pictures went around the world because Putin is still up to mischief in Ukraine. With a product from Star Navigation Systems, the Russian government would have been spared this embarrassment of unguarded airspace.

Star Navigation Systems (ISIN CA8551571034) is a Canadian company specializing in the development and marketing of flight safety, tracking and analysis systems for the aviation industry. Star Navigation Systems' core business is to provide advanced technologies and solutions that help improve safety, increase efficiency and reduce costs for airlines, operators and aircraft manufacturers.

AMD - Q1 figures show slight growth

AMD released its Q1 2023 figures, reporting revenue of EUR 4.8 billion. The gross margin was an impressive 44%, while the operating loss was EUR 131.3 million, and the net loss was EUR 125.8 million. The diluted loss per share was EUR 0.08.

On a non-GAAP basis, however, AMD (ISIN US0079031078) presented even better results: Gross margin reached 50%, operating income was EUR 996.2 billion, net income was EUR 878.3 million, and diluted earnings per share were EUR 0.54. Strong results that underscore the strength of AMD's business model.

Dr. Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, emphasized that the Company delivered an outstanding performance in the first quarter despite fluctuating demand, with both revenue and profit growth exceeding expectations. The introduction of several leading products, as well as significant progress in the implementation of the AI roadmap and collaboration with customers, were key factors in this success. Jean Hu, EVP, CFO and Treasurer of AMD, explained that the key Data Centre and Embedded businesses were responsible for more than half of the revenue in Q1.

For Q2, the Company expects growth to increase in the Data Centre and Client segments, while it will see a slight decline in the Gaming and Embedded segments. Nevertheless, AMD is confident about growth in the second half of the year as the PC and server markets recover and new products come to market.

FREYR Battery: Strategic partnership with Siemens

Siemens and FREYR Battery (ISIN LU2360697374) have joined forces and entered into a strategic partnership. The two companies have decided to invest in automation and digitalization technology jointly. Siemens will be FREYR's preferred supplier and will equip FREYR's planned gigafactories in Norway and the US with the latest Siemens software, Industrial Operations X. By using this software, which is part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, FREYR will be able to realize its gigafactories faster and more effectively. This will increase the availability of affordable and high-performance EV battery solutions and energy storage systems.

Tom Einar Jensen, CEO and co-founder of FREYR Battery, expressed his delight at the collaboration with Siemens - an international company that shares the same goals as FREYR Battery: to develop sustainable and efficient battery solutions on a large scale and at a fast pace. Siemens' strategic decision to invest in battery production follows successful partnerships with leading companies such as NVIDIA.

For the next generation of FREYR factories, a cloud-based digital twin was created using AWS IoT TwinMaker and presented at the Hannover Fair in a customized Siemens application on the NVIDIA Omniverse platform.

Russian media claim Ukraine attacked Moscow's presidential palace with drones. It is still being determined whether this is true. Star Navigation Systems proves how valuable airspace security is in these times. Investors are invited to join the Company's live presentation on May 10 2023 - register here.

For FREYR Battery, strong partners are an important step in expanding its global network. Cedrik Neike, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, says: "Speed, size, sustainability: that is what battery manufacturers need. And our customers get that better from Siemens than anywhere else. With the FREYR Battery partnership, we are underlining our position as a top partner for battery manufacturers worldwide." The extent to which NVIDIA will compete with the chip manufacturer AMD will become clear in the coming months, especially concerning the AI and gaming market.

2025 will once again go down in history as a strong year for the stock market. This is particularly surprising from a German perspective, as the DAX, long considered an underperformer, even outperformed the leading US market with a gain of over 20%. However, anyone who believes that the coming year will be a simple continuation of this trend is likely to be disappointed. Many market observers expect prices to continue rising, buoyed by AI investments, fiscal tailwinds, and robust earnings. At the same time, however, the risks of unexpected turns are growing. High valuations, possible sector rotations, and underestimated asset classes could make 2026 a year in which flexibility is more important than blind optimism.

From publisher to data company: Why Aspermont needs to close the valuation gap with Glacier and Informa

There is a clear two-tier society on the stock market when it comes to the valuation of information providers. Traditional media companies that depend on advertising revenue are often traded at low single-digit multiples. Data providers, on the other hand, which retain their customers through subscriptions and proprietary databases, enjoy the high valuations of the tech sector. Aspermont, the Australian market leader for B2B information in the commodities sector, is currently undergoing this lucrative transformation. A look at the competition reveals where the journey could lead. While the Canadian company Glacier Media shows how to profitably combine news and data, the British giant Informa proves that specialized B2B information is a billion-dollar business. Aspermont is currently aggressively adapting these successful models, but is still valued by the market like an old-fashioned newspaper publisher. Yet the Company has long since proven that it can win over wealthy customers in the B2B segment.

Nickel sulfides: The formula for profitability – why Power Metallic Mines is hot on the heels of Talon Metals and Magna

    • CriticalMetals

The nickel market is currently undergoing a split that offers investors clear guidance: while countless projects are failing due to low ore grades, skyrocketing energy costs, or politically unstable locations, a small group of winners is emerging. The formula for success is high-grade sulfide deposits in North America. Companies such as Talon Metals, which became known through a supply deal with Tesla, and Magna Mining in Canada's historic Sudbury Basin have proven that this geological constellation is the key to profitability. Power Metallic Mines is following in their footsteps. With its NISK project in Quebec, the Company has the geological ingredients of the two companies mentioned above, but is trading at a significant discount on the stock market, reflecting the past rather than the potential confirmed by drilling and the entry of several mining billionaires.
