D-Wave Quantum's share price exploded by more than 20% yesterday and is back at USD 6 – on Monday, it was still below USD 4. A new cooperation raises hopes for orders from the US government and state authorities. Meanwhile, ARI Motors is also seeing positive developments in its order flow, signaling growth in its niche within electric mobility despite a challenging environment. This makes the stock ripe for a breakout from its sideways trend – and upwards at that. More and more positive news is coming from Renk. The question remains whether the company can catch up with the underperformance seen compared to Rheinmetall and Hensoldt in 2025.

ARI Motors: Growth in exciting niches

There can be no talk of a sales crisis at ARI Motors. As the Company's CEO announced at the end of December, sales of electric vehicles are to be increased from around 250 to up to 500 in the current year. The target for the coming years is 1,000 vehicles. The Company from Saxony has occupied exciting niches in the field of electric mobility. Its core business is electric vans, which can be adapted to a wide range of requirements for commercial customers thanks to their modular design. Its customers include tradespeople, property managers and corporations such as BASF and Coca-Cola.

The Company is also active in the field of fully electric vehicles. Prices in this segment start at EUR 9,999. Most recently, at the end of 2024, the ARI Bruni, a two-door fully electric vehicle with room for four people, was presented. This compact city runabout has a range of over 200 km with a consumption of under 10 kWh. Prices start at EUR 15,990 and can be reduced even further thanks to regional funding programs such as those in Baden-Württemberg. This vehicle is also available in a "Cargo" version, which is aimed at customers with higher transport needs. As sales increase, after-sales is also likely to become more important in the coming years. This segment usually offers above-average margins.

The stock has moved sideways over the past year. When looking at the peer group from the automotive and renewable energy sectors, the development shows relative strength. If the market sentiment improves in the current year, the ARI Motors share could attack the EUR 1 mark. The stock is currently trading at around EUR 0.40.

Renk: Better than Rheinmetall and Hensoldt?

In 2024, there was no talk of relative strength for Renk's stock. The Company clearly lost the comparison to Rheinmetall and Hensoldt. Recently, however, there has been positive news from analysts and from the Company itself. Renk wants to take over the US-based company Cincinnati Gearing Systems (CGS), which specializes in precision gearboxes, drive technologies, and components and spare parts for the military and industrial sectors – particularly for the navy. Renk COO Dr Alexander Sagel stated: "With the acquisition of Cincinnati Gearing Systems Inc., we are further expanding our local presence in the North American market and strengthening our role as a manufacturer of mission-critical drive solutions in the military sector. At the same time, we are strengthening the foundations for further profitable growth in the naval segment and underlining our position as a trusted partner to our allies." Incidentally, Sagel purchased Renk shares worth around EUR 100,000 a few days after the acquisition was announced.

The analysts at Hauck Aufhäuser also view the planned purchase positively. Although CGS will not significantly impact sales and earnings development, the acquisition makes sense for the armored gearbox manufacturer from a strategic point of view. The analysts recommend buying Renk shares with a target price of EUR 35. This makes them among the most bullish on Renk. Currently, the stock is trading at around EUR 21.

D-Wave Quantum: Price explosion thanks to the prospect of government contracts

While the shares of Renk and ARI Motors have been trending sideways in recent weeks, D-Wave Quantum's price has been on a wild ride. Yesterday, the stock shot up another 20%. However, at USD 6, it is still a long way from the USD 10 it reached on January 10.

One reason for the price jump – in addition to the general quantum hype – is a partnership Carahsoft Technology has entered into. The aim is to increase the acceptance of D-Wave's quantum computing solutions among US government agencies and in the public sector. In the future, Carahsoft will act as a master government aggregator, making D-Wave's quantum computing technologies available to the public sector through its reseller partners and contracts, such as with NASA.

D-Wave's stock will still not be for the faint-hearted in 2025. How quickly the Company grows into the ambitious valuation should be decisive for a sustained rise in the share price. ARI Motors' stock could be on the verge of a price jump. The Company seems to have found its niche in the field of e-mobility and is growing even in a challenging environment. Renk certainly has catch-up potential within its peer group, although it is focused on a highly competitive segment with its transmissions.

The critical resource: How Antimony Resources protects Rheinmetall and BASF from shortages and why it has upside potential

Without antimony, there would be no flame retardants, modern electronics, or precision ammunition. However, the global availability of this critical metal is increasingly under threat. This is yet another sign of the comprehensive raw materials crisis that is forcing entire industries to radically reorganize their supply chains. It is precisely here, where a triad with enormous potential is emerging: Antimony Resources' access to the source positions itself as a potential supplier to Rheinmetall and BASF, who depend on this indispensable material. We take a closer look at the three companies.

Milestone for Almonty Industries! Full order books at RENK and TKMS! Here is what analysts say

A milestone for Almonty Industries: the tungsten mine in South Korea goes into operation. This positions the raw material gem for strong revenue and earnings growth in the coming years. Analyst estimates are based on significantly lower prices and could therefore be too conservative. The stock is rebounding. Defense stocks are currently being weighed down by the possibility of peace in Ukraine, but order books remain well filled. Shortly before Christmas, RENK is celebrating a million-euro order from the German Armed Forces for various tanks. TKMS has no worries about revenue for the coming years, with an order backlog of EUR 18.5 billion, nearly nine times its annual sales. Analysts recommend buying.

Silver boom and critical metals on the rise! Keep a close eye on Rheinmetall, Infineon, Hensoldt, and Antimony Resources

International conflicts and competition for physical silver are leading to increasing uncertainty surrounding critical metals. Since the defense industry and the high-tech sector are particularly dependent on intact supply chains, increased volatility is also measurable in these sectors. For risk-conscious investors, the time has come to scan their portfolios for potential risks and, after one of the best upward cycles of the last 20 years, to close one or two doors. We can help with the analysis.
