While experts predict prices of over EUR 2,200 for Rheinmetall, they believe gold could reach USD 5,000 per ounce. This puts mining stocks back in the spotlight after lagging behind the precious metal's performance for a long time. Barrick Mining is showing signs of life and has begun a recovery after several challenging years. However, things could get even more exciting for explorers, such as Sranan Gold. The Company is attractively valued, and following high-grade sampling, a drilling program has just been launched. This drill program benefits from historical data from gold giant Iamgold. Meanwhile, the price of silver is also picking up again and now stands at over USD 40. First Majestic Silver is delivering exploration results that support its growth potential.

Gold forecast of USD 5,000 and Barrick shares take off

The price of gold recently reached a new record high and is now trading well above USD 3,500 per ounce. This is driven by expectations of imminent interest rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve, a weaker dollar, and continued strong demand from institutional investors and central banks. Gold ETFs are seeing huge inflows. Leading analysts are extremely optimistic about further developments. Experts at Goldman Sachs consider a rise to USD 4,000 per ounce by mid-2026 to be realistic. US economist Ed Yardeni is even more bullish, believing that gold prices of USD 4,000 are possible by the end of 2025. He has even forecast up to USD 5,000 for the coming year. This means that gold remains one of the most promising investment assets in the current geopolitical and monetary policy environment.

Mining stocks can finally benefit from the record gold prices. Investor favorite Barrick Mining has struggled for a long time. But now the stock is climbing even faster. Since the beginning of August, the security has gained over 20%. It is now trading at around EUR 23, its highest level since 2022.

Analysts are still holding back with high price targets. Barrick Mining's stock was recently upgraded from "Neutral" to "Outperformer" by CIBC Capital Markets. According to the analysts, Barrick appears to have emerged from the difficult phase between 2022 and 2024. The Company met its forecasts in the first half of 2025. If this trend continues, the undervaluation relative to its peer group could be reduced. However, with a price target of USD 30 – raised from USD 28 – the upside potential remains modest.

Exploration companies like Sranan Gold continue to offer significantly more upside potential.

Sranan Gold: Shares still attractively valued

Sranan Gold is one of the promising gold explorers. The stock is being discovered by an increasing number of investors, but with a market capitalization of just over EUR 20 million, it is anything but expensive – yet. The Canadian company specializes in mineral exploration and the acquisition of mineral properties in Suriname. Even after independence, Suriname remains closely linked to the Netherlands and is considered stable and legally secure.

Sranan is currently developing the 29,000-hectare Tapanahony project. The prospects are promising. Iamgold had already carried out a successful drilling program in the Randy Trend in 2012 and is a well-known neighbor with its Rosebel Gold mine. In addition, local gold prospectors, including some who worked in illegal shafts, had already found gold in the past. Random samples from new shafts yielded high-grade finds of 23.7 g/t gold and 36.7 g/t gold.

The Company is correspondingly confident about the recently launched drilling program. The aim is to systematically explore the strike length and depth of the Randy Trend. Thanks to modern drones and LiDAR technology, a very good picture of the terrain has been obtained, and it is possible to proceed with great precision. The chances are good that positive results will soon be available from the first drill holes. In the context of rising gold prices, Sranan's share price is likely to continue gaining ground.

    First Majestic Silver: Convincing results

In the shadow of gold, the price of silver has also risen sharply. Driven by steady demand from industry and growing inflows into precious metal ETFs, gold's "little brother" is once again trading above USD 40 per troy ounce. In addition to robust investment demand, expectations of an economic upturn in key sectors such as photovoltaics and electromobility are also playing a role, bringing silver more into focus as a strategic raw material.

In line with the positive environment, First Majestic Silver has published new results from its exploration work in the Los Gatos joint venture project in Mexico – and they are positive. Several drill holes have confirmed high-grade silver, zinc, and lead deposits. Significant ore thicknesses with high grades were identified, particularly in the South-East Deeps section. The Company says this is a clear indication that Los Gatos has significant additional resource potential. The drilling programs are therefore set to continue in the coming months in order to further delineate the mineralization and prepare for an expansion of reserves. First Majestic emphasizes that the results could not only extend the life of the mine but also improve production prospects. In view of rising metal prices, the positive drilling results are gaining additional significance. Management continues to view Los Gatos as one of the most important growth projects in its portfolio and intends to adjust its investments accordingly.

First Majestic Silver's share price has already gained around 40% in value this year and is currently trading at just over EUR 8. It last reached this level at the beginning of 2023. However, it still has some way to go before reaching its all-time high. In April 2011, the share price briefly exceeded USD 25.

Precious metals are on the rise again. Barrick Mining has rebounded and is beginning to reduce its undervaluation. However, the Company has long since ceased to be a pure gold play, generating a large part of its revenues from copper. Explorers are likely to outperform in the gold rally – if the drilling results are favorable. Sranan Gold has a good chance of seeing its share price rise. The Company is anything but highly valued, and the drilling program it has launched should be convincing. First Majestic Silver shares should continue to march forward as the price of silver rises.

The electromobility boom is facing its toughest reality: the battle for lithium, copper, nickel, cobalt, and rare earths. While demand continues to rise, access to these critical raw materials will determine the winners and losers of the new era. This supply-side bottleneck confronts three very different players with fundamentally different challenges: the Chinese EV giant BYD in its tense domestic market, the up-and-coming supplier Power Metallic Mines, with its vast source of raw materials, and the long-established automaker Volkswagen, which is deep into a costly transformation. We take a closer look at where each stands today.

The explosive rise in the price of silver, which rose almost in a straight line from around USD 35 to USD 122 by the end of last week, is now taking its speculative toll. The precious metal has soared by more than 300% within 14 months, accompanied by widespread rumors of huge short positions and extreme problems for the futures exchanges in terms of material supply. The fact remains that silver has been used for several years across various high-tech industries, from wind power and e-mobility to state-of-the-art defense technology. Manufacturers are also said to have been spotted on the market making large cover purchases due to impending physical shortages. Industry sources report a possible deficit of over 1 billion ounces in the March settlement – equivalent to around 125% of total annual production. In addition to the exciting silver explorer Silver Viper, we also analyze thyssenkrupp, its subsidiary TKMS, and the newcomer to the stock market, CSG. It is worth reading on.

The gold correction is irrelevant here: Why Desert Gold is the missing piece of the puzzle for B2Gold and Allied Gold

The gold market is in a phase that analysts now refer to as a supercycle. With prices breaking historical records, smart capital is turning its attention to the world's most productive regions – even after the recent correction in precious metals. West Africa, and specifically the Senegal-Mali Shear Zone (SMSZ), is considered the geological heartland. This is where some of the largest and richest mines on the planet are located. But the business follows an inexorable logic: even the largest mines are emptying, and the processing plants need to be kept busy. This is true in the south of the zone for Canadian giant B2Gold with its world-class Fekola mine and in the north for Allied Gold, which is revitalizing the historic Sadiola asset. Desert Gold is considered a potential supporter of both companies. The company controls the largest non-producing land parcel in the entire region, located precisely between the two giants. This makes Desert Gold extremely interesting for investors.
