Tesla, BYD and Volkswagen are all looking for the perfect battery. First Phosphate, BASF and Varta in focus
The battery is becoming the linchpin of e-mobility. As the batteries age, their performance diminishes, which will soon affect this technology's first buyers. Although there are fewer wearing parts on an electric vehicle than on a conventional combustion engine, the battery is one of the most expensive components. Therefore, its replacement is anything but cheap. Meanwhile, big manufacturers like Tesla, BYD and VW are working on the ultimate battery with increased power and range. Volkswagen is investing EUR 10 billion in a new gigafactory near Valencia. The sector is betting on the new mobility, and the industry is adapting accordingly. Which shares have their noses in the wind?

Myriad Uranium, E.ON, RWE - What about our energy security?
Since April 15, 2023, nuclear energy has no longer been produced in Germany. The last 3 power plants were taken off the grid. Only time will tell whether this decision was sensible. At the end of last year, 422 reactors were operating worldwide, and 57 nuclear power plants were under construction, according to the World Nuclear Industry Status Report. Another 62 plants are in the planning stage. Demand for uranium has increased, and the price of uranium has climbed accordingly. Today we look at one uranium company and see what the German utilities are doing.

100 gigawatts by 2030 - Hydrogen to the rescue! What happens to Plug Power, dynaCERT, Nel ASA and ThyssenKrupp?
According to various surveys, the installed capacity for hydrogen is currently just 1.75 gigawatts. Nuclear power is history, but still, Germany wants to become climate neutral by 2045 at the latest. How is this to be achieved? The EU has set some guidelines and wants to install 100 gigawatts of green hydrogen by 2030. That would require more than 60 times as many electrolyzers as today for Ursula von der Leyen's plan to work. The cost of research, development and production, including infrastructure, is about EUR 2.5 trillion, which EU citizens are expected to pay for a lower-emission future. What should investors pay particular attention to on the stock market now?

BioNTech, Defence Therapeutics, Sartorius - Takeover fever in the biotech sector
In the past year, the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index took a severe beating until mid-June. In the meantime, an initial upward trend has developed, and the market is slowly heating up again because some biotech companies are still valued too cheaply. This is when the big players strike, such as Merck & Co, which recently bought Prometheus Biosciences for USD 10.8 billion. The buyer thus paid a premium of a whopping 75% on the previous day's closing price. The biotech start-up Tubulis has also agreed on a collaboration with Bristol-Myers Squibb that could bring more than USD 1 billion into the Munich-based company's coffers. Reason enough to take a look at three companies from the pharmaceutical and biotech sector.

The second biotech series is catching up - BioNxt Solutions, Core One Labs, BB Biotech
The months-long correction hit the capital-intensive biotech sector particularly hard. Shares, mainly from the second tier, sometimes had to absorb markdowns of more than three-quarters of their market value and are trading far below their cash holdings. These upheavals are, of course, prompting the big players to acquire new developments at bargain prices and thus significantly increase the value of their portfolios.

Electromobility on the verge of a new era - Freyr Battery, First Phosphate, Nio
In recent years, electromobility has become increasingly important. This is due to the increased demand for environmentally friendly vehicles and the progress in battery technology, which enables a longer range and shorter charging times. The development of new battery technologies remains an essential factor for the future of the industry. Even more existential, however, is access to the raw materials needed, such as lithium, cobalt, nickel and phosphate.

Outstanding long-term opportunities - Plug Power, Myriad Uranium, JinkoSolar
Hydrogen, photovoltaics and nuclear power are three promising options for achieving a CO2-free energy supply. Hydrogen can be used as a fuel and as energy storage. Photovoltaic enables the direct conversion of sunlight into electricity, and nuclear energy provides a reliable and emission-free energy source. Despite the outstanding long-term opportunities, companies in these sectors have been in a correction on the stock market for months. For many, however, the bottom has now been reached.

Airbus, Lufthansa, Star Navigation Systems - Which share will take off?
When travelling through airports these days, one feels transported back to 2019: many passengers are being drawn abroad again. A report published last autumn by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) shows that the number of flights rose sharply again in 2022. For the future, experts expect passenger numbers to continue to rise and thus also more flights. But how can investors invest in this trend? We present three options.

BYD overtakes Volkswagen! Do Manuka Resources and Varta benefit from battery demand?
Changing of the guard in the world's largest car market: for the first time since the 1980s, the Volkswagen brand is no longer number 1 in China. BYD sold more vehicles in the Middle Kingdom than VW in the first quarter. And while BYD sold only electric models, the German manufacturer also sold combustion engines. If the world's largest car market is to be a blueprint for Europe and the USA, Volkswagen, BMW & Co. are in for hard times. But the latest sales figures also show that demand for batteries is not going to collapse any time soon, as one or two experts predicted for this year. Those who want to bet on the raw materials for batteries should look at Manuka Resources. The Australians also have a second hot iron in the fire with gold projects. And what is the German battery pioneer Varta doing? Next week should be exciting.

Nuclear Power - No Thanks! E.ON, GoviEx Uranium, BASF - Questionable energy transition made in Berlin
Renewable energies are in focus! All well and good - Germany is repositioning itself. The focus is to be on hydropower, wind and solar energy. But these energy sources have little baseload capacity because hydroelectric power plants use "cheap" night electricity to pump water uphill, and reliable wind is probably only available offshore and not in the middle of Saxony. That brings us to the sun: On average, in our latitudes, it shines for about 146 hours a month, but in Alicante, it is 349 hours. Of course, large rooftop systems pay off for well-located households and one's e-mobile, but we cannot get a nationwide basic supply going with them. In the supply crisis, Berlin is relying on coal and gas power generation for now, but the much-touted climate neutrality is likely to be postponed to the next millennium. What should investors now keep an eye on?
