Globex Mining, Alphabet, Amazon - Hard assets in uncertain times
It continues to be uncertain times for Amazon employees. CEO Andy Jassy is cutting around 9,000 jobs in the group to keep the numbers stable. Tech rival Alphabet, on the other hand, can rejoice: for the first time, its cloud business is posting an operating profit, prompting the management team to buy back shares. The mining business is somewhat more consistent. Globex Mining has two pieces of good news for gold investors.

Plug Power stops sell-off? BYD is grabbing lithium, and Defense Metals is doing well
In Germany, the last nuclear power plants have been taken off the grid, and in North America, one battery factory after another is being built. Hydrogen is also booming. The Fraunhofer Institute, however, sees few opportunities in the passenger car sector. Experts list the lack of a filling station network and the relatively high prices for hydrogen as disadvantages compared to battery technology. Plug Power, among others, is working on improving the refuelling situation. The operating business of the Americans is in deep red. Can the Q1 figures stop the sell-off of the share? BYD shares, on the other hand, made significant gains yesterday. The Chinese are fully committed to e-cars and have entered into a lithium partnership in Chile for the necessary batteries. It is interesting to note that only a few days ago, the government of the South American country announced that it would nationalize lithium production. Is China thus grabbing the huge lithium deposits in Chile? The battle for raw materials is coming to a head. Defense Metals should profit from this. The rare earth project is located in legally secure Canada and is considered extremely promising.

Artificial intelligence is the new gold - TUI, Lufthansa and Star Navigation Systems with 100% chance!
The world of flight and travel is in a state of upheaval as artificial intelligence enters the decision-making world of humans. Quite unconsciously, various recommendations are creeping into the email boxes of citizens based on the usage behavior derived from Big Data collected over the past months or even years. The well-known IT giants collect data from our consumption and payment habits, analyze websites visited and build targeted advertising in the background, which wanders across our screens quasi "at random" in all situations in life. Although no one is really surprised here any more, 30% of our purchasing behaviour now comes from the Big Data machinery. Some stocks are making a name for themselves here.

The batteries of the future: Varta, Altech Advanced Materials, Volkswagen
Affordable e-cars that offer all the comforts and safety - even though many car industry commercials already sound like this, the reality is quite different. E-cars are still expensive, and the charging process forces travellers to take a mandatory break that is more or less relaxing, depending on their schedule. But technology is advancing. Batteries will soon be able to do much more than they do today. We introduce three companies that want to drive innovation.

Caution at Nel ASA and drumbeat at Volkswagen: Can Canadian North Resources profit?
Things are getting exciting for shareholders of Nel ASA. The hydrogen pioneer will publish its figures for the first quarter tomorrow. A current buy recommendation does not help the share price. At least the expectations for the figures are anything but high at the moment. Is there anything positive to report on the order book? Plug Power recently placed an order with a competitor. In the battery sector, Volkswagen has caused a sensation. The Wolfsburg-based company has announced its intention to build its largest battery factory to date in Canada. The Canadian government is subsidizing the project and expects thousands of new jobs at VW and its suppliers. The latter could include Canadian North Resources. The Company is currently developing a vast area and has already found copper, nickel, cobalt, platinum, and palladium there. Another drilling programme has just been launched. It is hoped that lithium will also be found.

Copper is becoming more and more interesting: Mercedes-Benz, Orestone Mining, Plug Power
The price of copper is also known among investors as "Dr Copper". The reason: the price of copper predicts economic crises more reliably than an economist and can be considered an indicator of economic activity. Currently, the demand for copper is exceptionally high because of its role as a jack-of-all-trades among metals. We explain which companies are dependent on copper and who can provide supplies.

Deutsche Bank, Tocvan Ventures, Barrick Gold - Turbulence in the financial system and rising gold price
The next FED decision is due on May 3. Will interest rates continue to rise to curb inflation, or will they pause with the increases? The increased interest rates ultimately meant the end for Silicon Valley Bank. After Credit Suisse also had to be rescued, the markets were on edge. Due to the enormous increase in the money supply since the financial crisis of 2008, the FED is in a dilemma. It already has to pay over USD 700 million daily in interest on the money it parks, which further increases the money supply. The gold price and cryptocurrencies have already made significant gains. We, therefore, look at Deutsche Bank today and two gold companies benefiting from the rising gold price.

Hydrogen from oil and gas? How fossil fuels are to become green: ThyssenKrupp, Saturn Oil + Gas, Nordex
The Hanover Fair took place last week. Much of the event revolved around climate change and its role in industry. If you ask industrial companies today, almost all are expanding their hydrogen business. A thought experiment by the Max Planck Society now opens up a new perspective for hydrogen: new processes could make hydrogen sustainable from fossil materials. We look at what is at stake and what this could mean for the companies involved.
