Nel ASA, First Hydrogen, Volkswagen - Funding paves the way for green hydrogen

  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen
  • renewableenergies

After the USD 750 billion US climate package, the European Union followed suit with the Green Deal Industrial Plan to remain competitive. At the end of March, the "EU Renewable Energy Directive" was rewritten with the goal of sourcing 45% of total power from renewables by 2030. This will add more speed to the expansion of renewable energies, which will ultimately also help hydrogen technology. The more green electricity is available, the cheaper green hydrogen becomes. At least EUR 100 billion are to be made available as subsidies by 2030. Today we look at 3 companies that could benefit from the subsidies.

dynaCERT, Daimler Truck, Plug Power - Into the future with hydrogen solutions

  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen
  • Energy

We are at the beginning of a new era of sustainability and efficiency. The consumption of fossil fuels in Western industrial nations is to be significantly reduced in the coming years. However, alternatives are needed. The future of energy supply could lie in hydrogen. Using electrolysis, water is broken down into its components: oxygen and hydrogen. The clean fuel produced can then be used directly or stored to produce electricity when needed. If renewable energy sources are used to produce green hydrogen, there will be no CO2 emissions. Today we look at three companies using hydrogen technology for their products.

New hydrogen stars First Hydrogen and SMA Solar - how is the share of Plug Power?

  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen
  • cleantech

Are we currently seeing a change of favourites in cleantech stocks, particularly in the hydrogen sector? With Plug Power and Nel ASA, investors seem to be losing hope in profitable business models. Yet Plug Power has just reported a record. In contrast, First Hydrogen is going from strength to strength. While the commercial hydrogen vehicles are currently being tested in practice, the next generation of vehicles has been presented. Analysts continue to regard the share as undervalued. SMA Solar is increasingly becoming a cleantech powerhouse. The solar specialist is expanding its product portfolio in the smart home market and wants to get involved in the hydrogen sector.

BASF, Almonty Industries, Plug Power - The world is in upheaval

  • Mining
  • Tungsten
  • greenhydrogen
  • renewableenergies

The Western world wants to break away from fossil fuels. These efforts have intensified since the Ukraine conflict. Europe, in particular, has realised how dependent it was on gas supplies from Russia. Globally, however, there is also a dependence on China for certain raw materials. This could be one of the reasons for the tensions between the USA and China, in addition to the conflict over Taiwan. The BRICS countries Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa have moved closer together in the last year and want to establish their own currency. With Iran, Argentina, Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Algeria, six more countries are interested in joining. The world is in a state of upheaval. Therefore, we look at three companies that are part of it.

Nel ASA, dynaCERT, Enapter - Future green hydrogen

  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen
  • GreenTech

With the announcement of the Inflation Reduction Act and the Green Deal Industrial plan of the European Union, politicians worldwide are pumping money into the development of green energies. As a flexible and easily transportable energy carrier, green hydrogen is seen as a key element to transform industry and transport. Of course, the road to final implementation still has a number of hurdles to overcome. However, favourites are already emerging that have long-term multiplication potential.

Is e-mobility a done deal? Watch out for these hydrogen stocks: Plug Power, dynaCERT, Nel ASA and ThyssenKrupp

High prices, falling subsidies and a still inadequate charging network - Germans are losing their appetite for e-cars again. Sales since the beginning of the year have fallen short of expectations. In Berlin, the first liberal resistance to the EU's intentions to remove the internal combustion car from the roads is becoming apparent. For the final vote in the EU parliament, the FDP calls for the approval of synthetic fuels, which are produced under strict CO2 neutrality. Worldwide, the EU seems to be alone with its ban on internal combustion engines. Only California is planning similar legislation. What about the green alternative, hydrogen?

BYD, First Hydrogen, Daimler Truck - Battle of the drive systems

  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen
  • Electromobility

In recent years, the debate about the future of mobility has focused heavily on conventional passenger cars. Yet it is commercial vehicles that are responsible for the majority of emissions. Here, the competition between electromobility and hydrogen as drive systems for trucks and vans is now moving into the focus of the discussion. While electromobility has been on the rise for several years, hydrogen is also gaining in importance as an alternative drive system. In contrast to batteries, fuel cell vehicles can achieve a significantly greater range with hydrogen. Another advantage of hydrogen as a propulsion system is the short refueling time. Today, we look at three companies that are taking different approaches.

dynaCERT, Mercedes-Benz, BYD - Is hydrogen the better alternative to electromobility?

  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen
  • Electromobility
  • Investments

New government measures are driving the shift from fossil fuels to renewables. While some of these measures defy logic (combustion car ban in the EU in 2023), others are leading to market changes that have a meaningful impact. The US Inflation Reduction Act, for example, is funneling money into the expansion of a nationwide hydrogen fueling station infrastructure. This is excellent news for the logistics industry, as tough cost calculations will determine the pros and cons of new forms of propulsion for heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles. This represents a market opportunity for the Canadian company dynaCERT, which provides switchable hydrogen drives. Hydrogen weighs less than electric batteries, and on the road, every kilogram counts for the freight. The Mercedes-Benz Group, including Daimer Truck AG, is also betting on hydrogen. China competitor BYD, meanwhile, has to reckon with cancellations for EV batteries because the devil is in the details here.

Beware of Plug Power and Tesla. Better to bet on BYD and Defense Metals?

  • Mining
  • RareEarths
  • greenhydrogen
  • Electromobility

Caution is advised with e-car pioneer Tesla: Over the weekend, a video of an accident involving a Tesla and a stationary fire truck made the rounds on the Internet. This could once again bring the US authorities onto the scene. They had just ordered a "recall" for more than 360,000 vehicles. The reason was an increased risk of accidents. Tesla has to install an online update of the driver assistance software. And then Charlie Munger had also spoken out clearly for BYD and against Tesla. It was almost ridiculous, said the partner of Warren Buffett, how strongly BYD had asserted itself against Tesla. While Tesla is lowering prices, BYD has raised them. Experts also advise caution for Plug Power. Chart-wise, the stock is still battered, the estimates for the coming years seem ambitious, and a capital increase to finance the expansion is hardly avoidable. At the same time, electromobility and hydrogen are absolute topics of the future. Are investors therefore better off betting on BYD and Defense Metals?

Hydrogen is not a foregone conclusion. The bankruptcy of the truck specialist Clean Logistics shows: Hype topics, in particular, must be solidly financed. We look at which niche investors can still invest with a clear conscience, which markets promise growth in the future and where hydrogen can also boost portfolios. We present three exciting companies.
