BYD, a pioneer in electromobility: Can First Hydrogen and Plug Power follow suit with hydrogen?

  • Electromobility
  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen

The future of mobility is increasingly environmentally conscious and innovative: now that electric cars have firmly established themselves on the market, hydrogen propulsion is emerging as a promising candidate for a green transportation revolution. Driven by the increased use of renewable energies, we are seeing growing potential for the production of green hydrogen. It is in the spotlight of current energy strategies and could come into its own, particularly in areas of mobility where electric batteries are reaching their limits. We look at the top dog of electromobility and two companies that focus on hydrogen.

The last stock market trading week of 2024 has it all. After briefly catching its breath, Germany's leading index, the DAX, is preparing to break through the 17,000 mark again. Meanwhile, new record highs have already been reported from the US. Both the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq-100 are at their highest levels ever. With the anticipation of interest rate cuts, there is a good chance that the upcoming trading year will bring further increases in stock prices.

From record production to billion-dollar deals: Prospera Energy, Occidental Petroleum and Tesla in the spotlight

  • renewableenergies
  • Energy
  • Oil
  • Electromobility

The world is undergoing an energy transition, and pioneering projects in Saudi Arabia demonstrate the significant role of renewable energy. Energy companies like Prospera Energy are experiencing record production with over 1,500 BOE/D. Value appreciation and a focus on reserves make Prospera Energy an attractive investment candidate, especially given the rising global demand for oil and gas. Warren Buffett is backing precisely these types of companies, such as Occidental Petroleum (OXY). The planned acquisition of CrownRock for USD 12 billion promises a significant increase in sales for the oil and gas company. Berkshire Hathaway is, therefore, increasing its stake in OXY by 5.2 million shares. While Tesla faces challenges with its electric vehicle (EV) doors, BYD is outperforming in the global BEV market. The Chinese car manufacturer has already overtaken Tesla in terms of market share, recording a 68% increase compared to the previous year. The future of electric mobility could lie in Chinese quality and reliability and, above all, in oil and gas companies. Where is the next profit leap?

The 2024 share rocket without e-funding - BYD, Defense Metals, Porsche and Volkswagen

  • Mining
  • RareEarths
  • Electromobility

With the supplementary budget 2023, the fate of the e-funding was sealed. On December 16, the purchase premium hammer came down in an "ad hoc announcement" from Berlin: The funding of up to EUR 4,500 for the purchase of a new e-vehicle has expired with immediate effect. This was announced by the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA). The deadline for applying for the funding ended on December 17, 2023, meaning that e-mobility is now a thing of the past. Only the reduced tax rate under the company car scheme and the general exemption from vehicle tax remain. Consumer advocates are complaining about the unequal treatment of different mobility concepts that have prevailed for years, and the Federal Constitutional Court will likely have to deal with this issue in due course. Time for investors to rethink - where are the opportunities in the investment year 2024?

Edison Lithium, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen - Electric car premium cancelled: What now?

  • Mining
  • Lithium
  • Electromobility

While electric cars are gaining ground worldwide, the German federal government has decided to end the environmental bonus for electric vehicles. New applications are no longer possible, leading to uncertainty about the future of the e-car market in Germany. This puts the target of 15 million electric cars by 2030 in jeopardy. We will, therefore, look at two of the leading car manufacturers in Germany and analyze what impact this decision will have. We will also look at Edison Lithium, a company that can provide the critical raw materials for electric vehicles. The demand for lithium and cobalt will increase significantly in the coming years.

Nel ASA, dynaCERT, BYD - Greener driving, the new era of transportation technology

  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen
  • Electromobility
  • renewableenergies

Reducing emissions from driving is crucial in the fight against climate change and air pollution. Large diesel engines in trucks, buses and industrial applications contribute significantly to the emission of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter. Hydrogen and electric drives are seen as promising solutions for a low-emission future, although each technology has specific advantages and disadvantages. A coexisting application of both systems could enable the optimal reduction of emissions. However, there is still a long way to go. It will take years to build up the necessary infrastructure. There are already technologies available to reduce emissions today. We look at one company from each sector.

Star investor Buffett bets on oil: BYD, Plug Power, Shell, Prospera Energy

  • Energy
  • renewableenergies
  • Electromobility
  • Oil

While the world was watching the Dubai Climate Conference, Warren Buffett invested in oil. The star investor increased his stake in Occidental Petroleum to 27% via Berkshire Hathaway. There is also the possibility of increasing the stake in the US oil company to 33%. The move came after Occidental shares had lost 20% in just a few weeks. This anti-cyclical move is typical of Buffett and shows that oil stocks like Shell are exciting. A similar turnaround story to Occidental is Prospera Energy. Things are expected to get interesting for the Canadian oil producer next year. This is likely also the case for BYD and Plug Power. Chinese companies want to attack the Japanese market, among other things. Like so many hydrogen companies, Plug Power has to address the question of the profitability of its business model.

COP28 - Acting on climate change in 2024! Nel ASA, Manuka Resources, BYD and VW - more than 200% is possible

Despite all reservations, the science is unanimous! Failing to limit global warming will pose significant risks to humanity in the next two decades. At the end of the World Climate Conference in Dubai, the revised resolution text was adopted without objection by almost 200 countries. COP28 President Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber described the outcome as "historic" and a "foundation for transformative change". The agreement calls for a global transition away from fossil fuels. It is thus the first resolution of a UN climate conference that concerns the future of all energies - including oil, natural gas, and coal. Criticism and rejection came from the Gulf States, as they intend to continue their "Affordable Oil & Gas from the desert sand" business model. How do typical GreenTech shares react to the latest climate policy?

Last week's interest rate decision in the USA was the final starting signal for further price rises. In addition to equities, gold, silver, and several cryptocurrencies also shot up. Therefore, the last weeks of the year should end with further positive signs. Despite the record high in many indices, there are increasing rebound opportunities that could outperform the broad market in the near future.

dynaCERT, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz - Renewable energies in focus, feasibility and speed are key

  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen
  • Electromobility
  • renewableenergies

This year's international climate conference, "COP28", is coming to an end with a strong statement. For the first time, the participating nations have committed themselves in writing to developing their energy resources away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energies. Host country Dubai, under the patronage of Sultan Al Jaber, achieved consensus among all participating countries. According to the agreement, countries are called upon to contribute to a global transition rather than being directly forced to implement this change independently. A company like dynaCERT, which has been campaigning for years for a CO₂-reducing hybrid solution to power diesel trucks in the logistics sector, could be on the verge of a breakthrough. The Company has already raised CAD 2.0 million in gross proceeds from an ongoing private placement, which it will now use to expand its technology. Meanwhile, Volkswagen plans to hire around 3,000 engineers in China to keep pace in the EV market. Mercedes-Benz, meanwhile, is expanding its offering in Dubai with an unusual move to maximize profits...
