First Majestic Silver, Blackrock Silver, Xiaomi - Is the silver price about to rise again?

  • Mining
  • Silver
  • Lithium
  • Electromobility

Silver significantly outperformed gold from September into February. In 2022, silver demand set a new record of 1.24 billion ounces at an average price of USD 21.70. This year, the Silver Institute projects an average price of USD 23. Increased interest rates mean investing in precious metals is less attractive. If the interest rate policy of the FED changes, which is expected for the second half of the year, silver should also increase significantly again. Especially since industrial demand is growing due to the expansion of renewable energies and the electronics industry cannot do without silver, to name just two sectors. We, therefore, take a look at three companies around silver.

In benchmarking, anyone who sees electromobility at the forefront cannot ignore a powerful battery. In the last 3 years, there have been no real leaps forward in development, but at least power compression in lithium-ion technology achieved a doubling of the range and, in parallel, also lowered the previously long charging times. This made an electric vehicle suitable for long-distance travel for the first time, even though faster discharge must be expected in winter due to non-engine services such as heating. But technological development continues, and BYD, as one of the world market leaders, sets technological standards. Which stocks are the favourites in the sector?

The ECB has so far failed to keep pace with the US in terms of interest rate hikes. The reward for this was inflation of 8.7% in Germany in January. The value is expected to remain at this level in February. The Federal Statistical Office recently made changes to the shopping basket and used 2020 instead of 2015 as the base year for the calculation. The high energy prices, especially in Germany, are causing great uncertainty in industry. BASF has already decided to invest several billion euros in China. There have been positive impulses for the economy from China since the easing of the Corona measures. An economic upswing could be imminent here. Reason enough to take a closer look at three companies from Asia.

BYD with share price jump and sales figures: What are American Lithium and Tocvan Ventures doing?

  • Mining
  • Lithium

  • Silver
  • Gold

While the investor event at Tesla was eagerly awaited yesterday, the shares of competitor BYD were among the day's winners, with a price jump of over 5%. After the sell-off of the previous days, the share benefited, among other things, from good economic indicators in China. Operationally, there are also positive things to report. There is also good newsflow at Tocvan Ventures. The gold and silver explorer has completed a capital increase and presented promising drill results. The news flow should continue as the year progresses, and the share could celebrate a strong comeback. Investors are waiting for news at American Lithium. The recent sell-off seems to be over, and the stock is picking up again. When will the uranium IPO come?

Nordex, Canadian North Resources, NIO - Strong growth in demand

The invasion of Ukraine and Europe's resulting dependence on Russian oil and gas has significantly accelerated the transformation to renewables as the largest part of the energy mix. However, wind power, photovoltaic systems, and electric cars require significantly more critical raw materials. This is already creating new problems. On the one hand, China owns the lion's share of many of these elementary metals; on the other hand, there is already excess demand for lithium, cobalt, nickel and even copper. Despite a short-term correction due to fears of recession, significant price increases are inevitable in the long term. The primary beneficiaries are raw material producers from Western countries.

Despite the continued uncertain environment of the Ukraine war, inflation and rising interest rates, many companies are surprising positively in their full-year 2022 figures. In addition, forecasts are extremely positive despite pessimism regarding the struggling global economy. In terms of innovations, too, the trend is steeply upward. In this context, one German company in particular could rise to become a leading player in battery technology.

BYD, First Hydrogen, Daimler Truck - Battle of the drive systems

  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen
  • Electromobility

In recent years, the debate about the future of mobility has focused heavily on conventional passenger cars. Yet it is commercial vehicles that are responsible for the majority of emissions. Here, the competition between electromobility and hydrogen as drive systems for trucks and vans is now moving into the focus of the discussion. While electromobility has been on the rise for several years, hydrogen is also gaining in importance as an alternative drive system. In contrast to batteries, fuel cell vehicles can achieve a significantly greater range with hydrogen. Another advantage of hydrogen as a propulsion system is the short refueling time. Today, we look at three companies that are taking different approaches.

dynaCERT, Mercedes-Benz, BYD - Is hydrogen the better alternative to electromobility?

New government measures are driving the shift from fossil fuels to renewables. While some of these measures defy logic (combustion car ban in the EU in 2023), others are leading to market changes that have a meaningful impact. The US Inflation Reduction Act, for example, is funneling money into the expansion of a nationwide hydrogen fueling station infrastructure. This is excellent news for the logistics industry, as tough cost calculations will determine the pros and cons of new forms of propulsion for heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles. This represents a market opportunity for the Canadian company dynaCERT, which provides switchable hydrogen drives. Hydrogen weighs less than electric batteries, and on the road, every kilogram counts for the freight. The Mercedes-Benz Group, including Daimer Truck AG, is also betting on hydrogen. China competitor BYD, meanwhile, has to reckon with cancellations for EV batteries because the devil is in the details here.

Unknown and better than Tesla? BYD, First Phosphate, Varta

BYD wants to have sold a whopping 1.86 million cars in 2022. That is about 500,000 more than competitor Tesla. Despite this, Elon Musk's company is still considered an e-car giant. Why is that? Certainly, the focus on Western markets has to do with the fact that many investors from the US and Europe still favour Tesla. We look at why thinking outside the box can pay off and how it can help investors seize opportunities.

Beware of Plug Power and Tesla. Better to bet on BYD and Defense Metals?

  • Mining
  • RareEarths
  • greenhydrogen
  • Electromobility

Caution is advised with e-car pioneer Tesla: Over the weekend, a video of an accident involving a Tesla and a stationary fire truck made the rounds on the Internet. This could once again bring the US authorities onto the scene. They had just ordered a "recall" for more than 360,000 vehicles. The reason was an increased risk of accidents. Tesla has to install an online update of the driver assistance software. And then Charlie Munger had also spoken out clearly for BYD and against Tesla. It was almost ridiculous, said the partner of Warren Buffett, how strongly BYD had asserted itself against Tesla. While Tesla is lowering prices, BYD has raised them. Experts also advise caution for Plug Power. Chart-wise, the stock is still battered, the estimates for the coming years seem ambitious, and a capital increase to finance the expansion is hardly avoidable. At the same time, electromobility and hydrogen are absolute topics of the future. Are investors therefore better off betting on BYD and Defense Metals?
