Rheinmetall, Triumph Gold, K+S - Hype or sustainable?
Already during the Corona pandemic, clear winners and losers could be identified. Vaccine manufacturers multiplied, and companies related to online trading also performed better than the market. In the current Ukraine crisis, however, the signs are changing. Suddenly, defense stocks, which were frowned upon a short time ago, are all the rage. Fertilizer companies, benefiting from the sanctions and the resulting supply shortages, are also gaining favor with investors. But how sustainable are the current increases? Gold mining stocks are also doing very well, but in contrast to Rheinmetall, Hensoldt & Co., they are performing much weaker.

Phoenix Copper, Glencore, Rheinmetall - High demand is intact
In its latest report, the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) provided an interesting insight into the general conditions of the metal markets at the beginning of the year. According to this report, there is still a global demand surplus for copper - just as there is for lead and nickel. In the first two months alone, the deficit already amounted to 83,000t of copper, up from 476,000t in 2021. In contrast, mine production rose by just 2.8% in January and February. However, coal and defense products are also currently in demand globally.

Attention, special situation! BASF, Barsele Minerals, Amazon
Old Economy? Tech stocks? Or special situations? Investors find different ways to stay invested during difficult market phases. It is not for nothing that the motto "Time in the market beats timing in the market" exists. Nevertheless, it makes sense right now to increase the equity quota only selectively. We will outline which stocks could be considered for this using three companies as examples.

K+S, Globex Mining, BHP Group - Commodity stocks for the next supercycle
Decarbonization is taking its toll. If you want to get out of fossil fuels, you need alternatives. But these alternatives require raw materials, some of which are not available in sufficient quantities. The result is rising prices. Goldman Sachs and Wells Fargo see commodities at the beginning of a supercycle, which means that the rally in commodities will last longer than 10 years. Tight supply is now further torpedoed by the Ukraine crisis and supply chain problems visible in China's ports. It is terrible for the industry but good for commodity producers. Today we look at three companies that could benefit from a supercycle.

Pay attention to financial stocks: PayPal, MAS Gold, Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank - inflation, real interest rate and precious metals!
It is going to be a lot of work! The Ukraine war is leaving its ugly mark on the humanitarian and material aspects. A lot of money is needed for reconstruction and the return of the many refugees. Since debt levels are high, interest rates will likely continue to rise to meet the growing need for capital. In addition, there is a shortage of fossil raw materials, and there is a threat of supply shortages. In order to avert a default, Russia has settled USD 650 million in interest on various foreign securities, as expected. Can financial chaos still be averted? Who will pay for the war damage? Financial stocks and gold come into focus during large debt movements. Where are the opportunities for investors?

BYD, Nevada Copper, XPeng - New opportunities for copper shares
After a brilliant year on the stock market in 2021 and reaching new 10-year highs, the copper price reached new highs again at the beginning of March, after the start of the Ukraine conflict. Since then, the base price has been correcting at a high level. However, due to the plan of politicians to practice an even faster switch to renewable energies, the demand for the elementary red metal is increasing significantly. Experts forecast a new supercycle for the next few years. Producers of the scarce commodity are the primary beneficiaries of this trend.

Adler Group, Amazon, Almonty - Free fall and strong growth
Investing in real estate is becoming increasingly volatile, whether as a landlord due to higher energy prices or as an investor in the Adler Group. In the latter case, auditor KPMG did not put an audit certificate on the 2021 annual financial statements because it remains unclear how the loss of around EUR 1 billion came about. The share slid into the basement, and four board members resigned. A look across the pond at Amazon, and Amazon Web Services, in particular, shows what can help a balanced portfolio mix. Boeing, the Seattle-based company, has gained a significant customer in the aviation industry. In this industry, the rare earth metal tungsten is in great demand. Thanks to its high density, it protects against radiation and is used for this purpose in the sheathing of aircraft. We take a look at what investors should watch out for now.

BASF, Meta Materials, NIO - New opportunities through the correction
Whether the old stock market rule "Sell in May and go away" still applies this year is at least doubtful. The DAX and S&P 500 benchmark indices have lost more than 10% since the beginning of the year. The Nasdaq technology segment was hit harder, losing more than 20%. Concerns about further interest rate hikes, the threat of stagflation and uncertainties regarding the Ukraine conflict are causing investors to go on a buyers' strike in some cases. Nevertheless, there are good long-term, anticyclical entry opportunities at current levels.

The energy madness: NEL, dynaCERT, Plug Power, FuelCell Energy - Hydrogen shares and the next price explosion?
If not now, when? Never before have there been so many arguments for new technologies that improve energy generation and distribution. After years of globalization, local connections are becoming important again in the current dislocation of international relationships, as the world has truly come apart at the seams. Supply relationships, price relations and availability, are under scrutiny. For the GreenTech movement, the current conditions could not be better, with climate protection and new technologies for decarbonized mobility leading the way. We take a look at the protagonists of hydrogen technologies.

BYD and Altech with strong news: Hope for BioNTech shares?
Rising interest rates, the war in Ukraine, lockdowns in China and recession fears: the current global mix is not conducive to rising share prices, but there is also positive news from companies. Among them is BYD. The largest Chinese manufacturer of electric cars has published quarterly figures and thus convinced analysts. In addition, BYD is celebrating the delivery anniversary of its flagship. The share of Altech Advanced Materials is also currently stepping on the gas. A study has confirmed that the planned production plant of the Heidelberg-based Company can be highly profitable. With the plant, Altech wants to stir up the market for lithium-ion batteries. BioNTech shareholders are still waiting for positive news - but there is hope.
