Biotech Alert! Morphosys, Bayer, BioNTech and Defence Therapeutics

  • Biotechnology
  • Pharma

Morphosys is not for the faint-hearted. After unclear study results, the stock gave up its annual gains within a few days. Analysts are also divided on what the future holds. On December 10, the study details will be released, hopefully shedding light on the situation. Bayer shareholders are currently seeing dark clouds. The stock plummeted from EUR 40 to EUR 30 in a short time. Is the dividend now at risk, or is the entire company in jeopardy? There is a slew of positive news for Defence Therapeutics. Can the stock break out of its sideways trend? A potential partner for the Canadians could be BioNTech. The German biotech favourite is working with full coffers on cancer vaccines. However, analysts remain cautious.

Growth Industries in Focus: Investors see potential in Defense Metals, BASF and Volkswagen shares

  • Mining
  • Tungsten
  • RareEarths
  • Electromobility

Investors are looking for opportunities in growing markets. Looking at industries currently requiring rare earths - such as energy, defense, electromobility, and many more - leads to the mining sector. Someone has to supply the valuable raw materials so these industries can continue growing. Defense Metals' Wicheeda project in Canada shows promising results, particularly the increase to 6.4 million tons with a TREO content of 2.86%. BASF secures EUR 124.3 million in government funding for a green hydrogen plant in Ludwigshafen, planned in collaboration with Siemens Energy. Volkswagen is facing challenges, emphasized by VW board member Thomas Schäfer, who announced tough cuts to maintain competitiveness without closing plants. Volkswagen will have to respond to change with a more agile approach, especially as China advances in electromobility.

Sell Varta shares? Positive news from JinkoSolar and Manuka Resources

  • Mining
  • Gold
  • renewableenergies
  • Solar
  • Batteries

Is the Varta share price party over again? The shares of the former German battery darling have gained around 30% in value over the past six months. But now analysts are advising to sell. JinkoSolar's management had hoped for more buying when it announced the dividend at the end of September. While this was not the case, shareholders can at least look forward to a payout next week. Manuka Resources is currently managing the balancing act between positive cash flows from the sale of gold and investments in resource expansion. The Company is sitting on another potential "treasure" with a project for battery metals. Is the share undervalued?

Bets are increasing that the US Federal Reserve may have at least paused to raise interest rates further. This prompted the gold price to reach a six-month high of USD 2,016 per ounce. As with its little brother silver, the signs point to further price rises in the short term. The world's largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, even reached a new high for the year of over USD 38,000. Optimists are already anticipating prices well above the USD 50,000 mark.

DAX on record course, hydrogen sell-off! Plug Power, First Hydrogen, Nel ASA and Daimler Truck on the test bench

  • Hydrogen
  • greenhydrogen
  • renewableenergies

The DAX is soaring because most investors expect interest rates to fall. Based on the assumption of slower growth, investors are again focusing on cyclically sensitive stocks at the turn of the year. According to the expectation curves for ECB and FED interest rates, the first downward adjustments are already expected in Q2. The key factors here are the slight fall in inflation and the central banks' desire to cushion the potential downturn. Despite all the euphoria, the desire to buy is currently bypassing the hydrogen sector. Representatives of the sector are the stock market losers of 2023. Is there still a possibility of a quick rebound in 2024? We do the math.

MorphoSys, Cardiol Therapeutics, Bayer - Where will the rebound start first?

  • Biotechnology
  • Pharma

2023 was a challenging year for pharmaceutical and biotech companies. After the boom years of the Corona pandemic, many companies went into a tailspin. But not just vaccine manufacturers were hit; others were dragged down too. The markets are currently volatile. MorphoSys has seen a peak gain of 145% since the beginning of the year - but is currently only up 35%. Cardiol Therapeutics has also gained over 140% and has recently consolidated. The share is currently up 74% since the beginning of the year. Only Bayer's performance curve is pointing downwards. The share is currently worth 34% less than on January 2. We look at where the rebound will start first after the consolidations.

GreenTech 2024 - The turnaround analysis: Siemens Energy, Almonty Industries, JinkoSolar and Nordex. Is the turnaround near?

  • Mining
  • Tungsten
  • renewableenergies
  • GreenTech

The Western hemisphere is experiencing unprecedented inflation due to the impact of Corona and subsequent geopolitical conflicts. This time, it is not a boom causing prices to explode but the scarcity of raw materials, manpower and capital. The rise in interest rates is making infrastructure projects worldwide more expensive and jeopardizing the implementation of climate projects. In such an environment, GreenTech companies try to plan carefully, but they are still dependent on the support of public budgets. After sharp price corrections this year, investors can now enter the market a good 50% below the highs, but has the bottom already been reached?

After a sharp rise of around 30% to an annual high of USD 95.50 for the US West Texas Intermediate, black gold entered a correction and has since lost about 20% in value. Even events like the Hamas attack on Israel and OPEC+ production cuts were unable to halt the current decline. From a technical chart perspective, this appears to be a normal correction. In the long term, oil is expected to reach new highs with the next upward movement. JP Morgan, for instance, issued an updated price target of USD 120 per barrel as recently as September.

When the stock market is booming almost every day, it is easy to lose sight of the loss-makers of 2023. But it does not have to continue like this! The market regularly rotates through segments, so today's losers will soon be the winners again. This is already evident with TUI and Lufthansa, who are slowly emerging from the Corona shock. Bayer is halting a promising drug and still has to deal with legal disputes. The current situation and the rising gold trend speak in favor of Desert Gold. Let's take a look at the values of tomorrow.
