BioNTech, Defence Therapeutics, Bayer - Is a Corona tsunami imminent?
At the beginning of December, things were quiet concerning Corona. The feared wave failed to materialize, and there were no new variants. On December 7, China announced a relaxation of Corona measures. Now the country is facing a gigantic Corona wave. Many European countries have already imposed mandatory testing for entry from China. Germany has now followed suit. In parallel, the Consumer Electronics Show 2023 ran from the 5th to the 8th in Las Vegas, where all kinds of companies from all over the world presented their latest technology. Chinese companies also exhibited there. Because of the multitude of infections, new deadly mutations could emerge. As a result, pharmaceutical and biotech companies are coming back into focus.

Nvidia, Meta Materials, Grenke AG - Great chances for a comeback
The stock market year 2022 has left its mark on many companies. Especially for technology stocks, losses beyond 50% were the rule rather than the exception. Fears of rising inflation and the central banks' change of strategy to a strict monetary policy caused investors to throw capital-intensive stocks overboard. The situation on the interest rate front is now easing, which could mean that the massive exaggerations in several stocks are likely to correct again soon.

Tesla share continues to crash! Volkswagen, BYD, Kodiak Copper, Mercedes - E-mobility in distress?
E-mobiles still account for a single-digit percentage of all vehicles worldwide, but the growth trends speak a clear language: the world will electrify in mobility! Anyone following the price of copper should note one important point - copper is an important industrial metal that is not only used in cars. The biggest consumers are the construction and infrastructure industries. And these sectors are suffering from extreme inflation, high interest rates and the resulting economic decline in demand. For the copper price, of course, this also means no exuberant scarcity at present, and thus falling prices from around USD 5.00 to currently around USD 3.80 per pound. So, as with all commodities, timing in the economic cycle is the key determinant of investment success. Which stocks are in focus now?

Power Nickel, American Lithium, Cameco - Last chance before new wave?
The climate targets have been set, and the energy turnaround must be achieved. After the escalation of the conflict in Eastern Europe, the future must become green even faster to escape dependence on Russian oil and gas. Decarbonization is to succeed alongside the electrification of transport and the significant expansion of renewable energies. To date, it has yet to be precisely analyzed where the required industrial metals and raw materials are to come from. A shortage and, thus, sharply rising prices are pre-programmed. Producers of critical goods, especially from the West, are the clear beneficiaries.

It is the year 2023 and COVID is back! BioNTech, Bayer, Defence Therapeutics, Morphosys - Which stocks stand up to the virus from China?
The next COVID wave is raging in China. The situation is no less dramatic today than in 2019 because until now, only vaccines produced in the country may be administered to locals in China. Before Christmas, however, the German government obtained permission to have Germans in China vaccinated with the active ingredient from BioNTech and immediately had the first doses flown out to Beijing. Yesterday, the EU discussed a joint reaction to the current conditions in China. German medical officials are calling for mandatory Europe-wide testing of all people entering the country and are warning of a new, dangerous virus mutation due to the large numbers of infections. Investors are therefore taking the vaccine experts back into focus.

Nel ASA, dynaCERT, Plug Power - The future of sustainable energy is now!
The hydrogen market is an integral part of the energy transition, as hydrogen is a clean alternative to fossil fuels. A wide range of applications are possible with hydrogen. Now that Germany is giving up Russian gas, independence from other gas suppliers is also the goal. Saxony-Anhalt's Chairman of the Conference of Energy Ministers, Armin Willingmann, is therefore calling for the industrial production of green hydrogen. With the expansion of renewable energies, the storage of surplus electricity as green hydrogen is a sensible solution. We, therefore, take a look at three companies that have developed their products around hydrogen.

Rheinmetall, Globex Mining, Brenntag - Just before the breakout
The themes of the past year are likely to continue to dominate the markets in 2023. Despite excellent prospects, shares from the renewable energy and electromobility sectors corrected strongly and are currently trading at attractive long-term levels. Due to strong demand from this sector and the strengthening of the defense sector since the Ukraine conflict, commodity producers benefit in turn. In particular, companies from the Western world are likely to move closer into focus here.

Takeover fever 2023? BioNTech, Barrick Gold, Standard Lithium, Manuka Resources
The pharmaceutical sector was already in takeover fever last year. BioNTech partner Pfizer, among others, made several acquisitions. The hunger for acquisitions is likely to continue in the current year as major pharmaceutical and biotech companies are looking to fill up their pipelines. The current year could also be exciting for gold stocks. In 2022, companies failed to keep pace with the positive gold price. Producers of raw materials for the energy transition could also get into takeover fever. Manuka Resources could benefit from the latest two trends. The Canadians have just carried out a capital measure to advance their projects. Corporations could also target specialists like Standard Lithium. Rumours that Tesla is looking at lithium projects have been doing the rounds for a long time. And what about Barrick Gold and BioNTech?

The big energy question in 2023: BYD, Altech Advanced Materials, Varta, BASF - Is the thread breaking?
Although the year 2023 starts with rising share prices, Central Europe is entering a difficult period. The start of the New Year brings a new situation for German consumers of refined products, as the purchase of crude oil via the Druzhba pipeline has now been stopped. Germany is thus implementing the oil embargo against Russia decided in the EU and losing a vital supply of oil overnight. As a result, the East German refinery in Schwedt reduced its throughput to 55% and is looking around for other suppliers. Whether this will work out in the short term is more than questionable. If the gas storage facilities are empty at the end of the relatively warm winter, the energy question will arise again. We now realize how fatally energy dependence on Russia has grown over the past decades. How tangible are alternative energies and the high-performance energy storage facilities they require?

Desert Gold Ventures, Amazon, Volkswagen - Commodities in hot demand, while big tech and Automotive in a nosedive
The new stock market year is starting with a strong pole position for commodities and companies like Desert Gold Ventures, which is looking for gold in Mali. Mali is the third-largest gold-producing country in the world. Desert Gold Ventures' 'SMSZ Project' already surrounds 6 active gold mines, and drilling for 2023 is secured. Things remain shaky for big tech companies like Amazon and automotive like Volkswagen. Can the past Christmas sales bring Amazon's once largest pillar back into the black? Will the Wolfsburg-based company recapture its market power through restructuring in procurement?
