Nel ASA, Alerio Gold, Siemens - Difficult times

  • Gold

Following the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, with its lockdowns and restrictions, the DAX has been going nowhere but up since its low of 7968.50 points on March 16, 2020. The world's leading indices also posted one high after another. Now the mood is changing due to fears of a tighter monetary policy by central banks. The question will be whether financial guardians can contain skyrocketing inflation rates without choking off growth. Along the way, the focus is likely to be on the sovereign debt ratios, which are rising sharply. It is unlikely to be possible to raise key interest rates too much. Therefore, even if the precious metals remain in a short-term correction, gold is likely to be one of the winners of the current process.

Valneva, XPhyto, BioNTech - This is the breakthrough

  • Biotechnology

The shares of vaccine manufacturers are currently experiencing a rollercoaster ride. While BioNTech, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, based on mRNA technology, continue to reduce their incredible stock market valuation, Valneva, the manufacturer of an inactivated vaccine, has made a brilliant comeback on the stock market floor. The reasons for the good mood were positive data regarding the neutralization of the Omicron variant, which pushed the share up by more than 30% after trading hours.

Taiwan Semiconductor, BrainChip, JinkoSolar - Markup in the chip industry

  • Technology

The chip crisis was one of the most discussed topics of 2021. The shortage of semiconductors led to production stops, short-time work in the automotive industry, and skyrocketing prices. Even for the current year, manufacturers still do not see any relief on the market. In general, the semiconductor industry is in a strong state of flux. With the development of chips based on artificial intelligence, a new generation is now finding its way to the mass market. The best example is the Australian Company BrainChip, for which the doors to commercialization have been opened wide.

BYD, Nevada Copper, Nordex - Copper, the next run

  • Copper

After a prolonged sideways movement and a bottoming out in the USD 9,000 area, copper celebrated the recapture of the psychologically important USD 10,000 mark last week. The triumphant march of the red metal is likely to continue in the coming years due to the energy transition. Stronger demand is offset by scarce supply, which is being further fueled by the electrification of transport, among other things.

BYD, Yorkton Ventures, BMW - An expensive boom

  • Lithium

The electric carmakers' annual figures are out, and they show rapid growth for both BYD and BMW. Despite the pandemic and the shortage of semiconductors, the automakers were able to double deliveries in some cases. The industry also expects a continued boom in e-mobility in 2022. The Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers forecasts around 850,000 new registrations for electric vehicles in Germany in 2022. In addition to the sales figures, however, the prices for the raw materials required are also growing. Lithium alone, which is essential for batteries, has more than tripled in price since June of last year and is currently reaching new highs almost daily.

BioNTech, Defence Therapeutics, PAION - Seizing the momentum

  • Biotechnology

The Corona pandemic brought biotechnology to the forefront of society's consciousness, especially since the first vaccines were created in German laboratories. However, the biotech spectrum is much broader than pandemic vaccine research. In addition to research in medicine, the sector is playing an increasingly important role in environmental protection, agriculture and the ongoing climate change.

TeamViewer, Saturn Oil + Gas, BP - Target price USD 100

  • Oil

Oil prices continue to rise. A barrel of Brent currently costs USD 84.32 and is thus on the verge of breaking through a double top formation from the highs of 2018 and 2021. A breakout would generate a fresh buy signal, the target range of which already lies beyond the USD 100 mark. Underpinned by an easing of the Corona situation and an unexpected onset of winter in the US, a new 10-year high at USD 122.88 could even beckon. The primary beneficiaries of this inflationary development are once again the oil producers.

Tilray, Ayurcann, Aurora Cannabis - When will the boom 2.0 come?

  • Cannabis

About five years ago, the boom of cannabis stocks started. Companies like Aurora Cannabis, Canopy Growth and Tilray were able to multiply within a few months. However, the boom was followed by a quick end on the stock market. With corrections of 90% in some cases, the exaggerations were harshly corrected. However, the cannabis market is still in a strong growth phase. The legalization in many countries and the cannabis 3.0 wave promise the companies enormous growth leaps in the next few years. Thus, the steep rise seen at the time could be repeated, at least to some extent.

Steinhoff, Aspermont, Bayer - Crazy speed

  • Digitization

In terms of digitization, Germany lags light years behind other countries. Most of the big Internet success stories were written in the USA with Facebook, Google, Amazon and Apple. Yet new developments are coming faster and faster, and the digital transformation continues unabated. Down Under, the next success story is currently being built: The transformation of a venerable publishing house into a digital media company. The next big step is on the horizon, which should bring great potential for investors with the help of new shareholders. But the story is still in its infancy.

Steinhoff, Almonty Industries, MorphoSys - Closer and closer to the goal

  • tungsten

Will the crisis-ridden international retail group Steinhoff have a happy ending after all? Now that the settlement is likely to be successfully put to bed at the end of January, the highly indebted company's survival is at stake, and it is now striving to gold-plate its well-performing subsidiaries. At Almonty Industries, on the other hand, the signs are pointing to growth. The mega project in South Korea will make the Company one of the most important players in the production of raw materials for the energy transition, with significant upside potential.
