Nico Popp

  • Small-Caps

At home in Southern Germany, the passionate stock exchange expert has been accompanying the capital markets for about twenty years. With a soft spot for smaller companies, he is constantly on the lookout for exciting investment stories. That it depends thereby less on large names, but on the future potential and whether the market also recognizes these perspectives, was one of its first learnings at the stock exchange.

On these pages, Nico examines current events at listed companies and takes a closer look at companies that are traded under the radar of the market, in addition to well-known securities.

In order to be able to take advantage of speculative opportunities on the stock exchange, Nico not only focuses on a balanced asset allocation of defensive and opportunity-oriented securities, but also on an intact risk management. "In addition to position size and entry in several tranches, investors should also develop a sense of timing and get to know a stock better before investing," says the columnist.

Where gold shines brightest: Barrick Gold, Desert Gold, Uniper

  • Mining
  • Gold
  • Energy

Secretly and quietly, gold has stalked towards the USD 1,800 mark. We look at two exciting gold stocks and use the example of Uniper to explain why gold could soon be booming.

Investors looking for the latest trends often focus on metals such as rare earths, vanadium and lithium. But if you want to get the future into your portfolio, you don't have to rely on exotic elements; copper offers the best conditions. As the British Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA) has shown on behalf of the International Copper Association, the demand for copper alone for climate-related refurbishment will increase to 160,000t by 2035 from the current 40,000t. When it comes to everyday products, we all have clear ideas about prices. For a long time, the EUR 2 mark, for example, was considered an average price for a piece of butter. But as soon as it becomes more expensive, it is worth a headline in a newspaper with big letters. It is a different story with cars or other high-quality products. Thanks to high-quality workmanship and technology, customers are willing to pay more than the actual market prices. In economics, the difference between the high price and the market price is called producer surplus. We present three companies that want to skim off this producer surplus.
