At home in Southern Germany, the passionate stock exchange expert has been accompanying the capital markets for about twenty years. With a soft spot for smaller companies, he is constantly on the lookout for exciting investment stories. That it depends thereby less on large names, but on the future potential and whether the market also recognizes these perspectives, was one of its first learnings at the stock exchange.

On these pages, Nico examines current events at listed companies and takes a closer look at companies that are traded under the radar of the market, in addition to well-known securities.

In order to be able to take advantage of speculative opportunities on the stock exchange, Nico not only focuses on a balanced asset allocation of defensive and opportunity-oriented securities, but also on an intact risk management. "In addition to position size and entry in several tranches, investors should also develop a sense of timing and get to know a stock better before investing," says the columnist.

BYD, Edison Lithium, Rock Tech Lithium: Investing in the Saudi Arabia of electromobility

  • Lithium

Ever since this year's Super Bowl, it has been clear that the future of mobility will be electric. What does one have to do with the other? Advertising space during mega-sports events is in high demand. This year, seven companies from the sector advertised e-cars and accessories, including BMW with a spot featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other companies that spent up to USD 6.5 million for 30 seconds of advertising included Polestar and Nissan. But e-cars are not yet a foregone conclusion. The technology poses challenges for suppliers and raw material producers. We present three companies that are well placed to score points with their products despite adverse conditions.

Gazprom, Alerio Gold, ThyssenKrupp: Ukraine conflict resolution as a door opener?

  • Gold

At the moment, the world is holding its breath. Not since the end of the Cold War have so many soldiers come together on European soil as is currently the case on the border between Russia and Ukraine. While German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is focusing on diplomacy, Kiev and the Baltic states would like to see more signals of deterrence. We will see which path is the better one or whether, in the end, a combination will once again avert the worst-case scenario. However, the fact is that the threat of war is rattling the markets. We profile three stocks.

Exploring new territory, getting out. That is what many people have wanted, and not just since the pandemic. People have always been driven by wanderlust. Getting to know new places, meeting new people. This pioneering spirit can also pay off in business terms: Those who bring the latest trend from the USA, South Korea or Iceland to Germany, often have little competition. We highlight three stocks with pioneering spirit.

Keep going, always keep going! What once drove Oliver Kahn to peak performance is also the motto of enterprising companies. Companies that make their products a little better every day or open up entirely new markets are not likely to be outdone by the competition any time soon. We look at three companies doing something special in their own way.

Varta, Triumph Gold, Barrick Gold: Interest rate turnaround? That's what Goldman Sachs says!

  • Gold

Interest rates are rising - at least in the US, at least a little bit. But the market has turned signals of normalcy into warning signals. Rising interest rates could stall the recovery, and in general, rising rates would be poison for the stock market, which would become less attractive relative to interest-bearing securities. Here is why this argument is flawed, what Goldman Sachs has to say about it, and which stocks might benefit.
