Barrick Gold, First Nordic Metals, Commerzbank – The gold rally is fueled by falling interest rates

The gold price is once again on track for a new all-time high. A number of factors suggest that the rally will continue. The FED is expected to cut interest rates twice this year, central banks have been buying significantly more gold since 2022, and geopolitical tensions are fueling increased interest in the precious metal. In addition, Trump's policies could drive up inflation again in the long term, which would put the USD under pressure. This would also help the gold price. However, it remains to be seen whether the US central bank would actually cut interest rates twice. We are therefore looking at 2 gold companies and analyzing Commerzbank, for which the interest rate environment is very important.

For the German economy, a 180-degree shift in economic policy is needed to stop the ongoing migration of industries abroad. However, this requires signs of a consistent refocusing on burning issues, which neither the parties with a claim to the government nor the opposition can really present. International investors have refocused on European markets at the beginning of the year, as reforms are expected. The premature praise for Donald Trump has generated new highs in the US, but now the NASDAQ seems to be running out of steam. Germany, as the laggard in terms of economic growth, offers very low valuations that have rarely been seen for longer periods. We highlight some opportunities.

Things have been moving at a rapid pace since the old and new President of the United States, Donald Trump, took office. Around 80 decrees were signed on the first working day alone. One of the Republican's goals is to make the US the "global hub for crypto and artificial intelligence". With the commitment of over USD 500 billion for the largest AI project in history, the industry is likely to face further appreciation. The price of gold has also increased, and it is now approaching the magic mark of USD 3,000 per ounce. In this context, producers and exploration companies are now likely to tap into their catch-up potential.

With rising inflation since 2021, the price of gold has also risen significantly. Over the last 20 years, resourceful investors have always been able to compensate for the loss of purchasing power with an average return of a good 8.5% per year. The crux of the matter is that one could not trade the ups and downs in precious metals because only long-term holders can look back on gold prices around USD 500 in 2005. Today, 20 years later, new highs of USD 2,788 have already been reached. Agnico-Eagle is one of the most successful mines in the world, with its shares almost doubling in the last 12 months. Things have been going equally well for Agnico's partner, the explorer First Nordic Metals. A closer analysis reveals even more ideas for boosting your portfolio.

Stock market driven by Donald Trump: Renk, Bitcoin, Barrick Gold, First Nordic Metals

Since yesterday, Donald Trump is again US president. And the Trump Trades such as Bitcoin, gold and defense continue to rise. The US president's own meme coin caused a stir over the weekend. At the same time, gold is setting its sights on an all-time high. The stocks in the sector should also benefit from this. Barrick Gold was one of the disappointments in 2024. Will the gold giant now start a new buying wave in the industry? New impetus could come in February. First Nordic Metals might be interesting for one of the large gold producers. The Company has exciting projects in Scandinavia and is implementing an extensive drilling program in 2025. The stock is cheap. At the turn of the year, investors likely also found Renk's stock too cheap. After a disappointing performance in 2024, the share price picked up in the new year. Analysts see further upside potential.

After a record year for equities in 2024, the new year is entering a challenging phase. Hopes of interest rate cuts look bleak, with inflation remaining too high. The mega rally in Bitcoin also needs to be deflated soon. This hits BTC collector MicroStrategy quite hard. Nel ASA, which had started the year on a hopeful note, now has to announce a production stoppage! Lufthansa, meanwhile, is working on acquiring the state-owned Italian airline ITA. Volatility is rising dangerously, signaling that a correction is due. These developments are positive for the safe haven of gold. The key now is consistent action!

The global security landscape is changing rapidly, whether in the Middle East, on NATO borders, or in Asia. Savvy investors recognize the links between demand for commodities such as gold, technology and defense. One of the major gold producers, Barrick Gold, is receiving positive analyst evaluations and appears to be on a growth trajectory for 2025. The same is true for Desert Gold. The exploration and resource development company has discovered promising new gold deposits in Mali, West Africa, and has also raised the necessary capital for the next development phase. Meanwhile, Rheinmetall is strengthening the medical capabilities of the German armed forces. With state-of-the-art mobile rescue stations, soldiers will have access to care and support anytime. While gold producers and explorers are tapping into valuable precious metal resources, Rheinmetall provides the technology for a secure future. There is enormous investment potential for investors.

Trump, Bitcoin and a gold rally in 2025? Barrick, Thunder Gold, Agnico-Eagle and D-Wave in focus

Geopolitical tensions, war, inflation, spiralling national debt and clueless politicians – a set-up that hardly impacted stock markets negatively in 2024. Fueled by immense expectations of productivity gains from high-tech advancements, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing in the coming years, valuations on the NASDAQ soared to unprecedented heights. The local DAX 40 index was also able to keep pace, albeit with reduced momentum. As the year ends just shy of December highs, major uncertainties in 2024 also sparked a rush for precious metals. A troy ounce of gold peaked at USD 2,790, while silver exceeded the USD 32 mark several times - prices not seen in years. Technical analysts now predict a super cycle for commodities. The key point: compared to the overheated high-tech sector, the current metal prices for mining stocks are more likely to produce upward surprises than profit warnings. The time is ripe for a selective entry.

Volkswagen, Globex Mining, Novo Nordisk – Here are the opportunities for the coming year

The vbw commodity price index recorded a remarkable increase of 4.4% in October 2024 compared to the previous month – an increase of 18.4% year-on-year. On the one hand, this is surprising, as the economy has reportedly noticeably slowed down. On the other hand, geopolitical tensions seem to be causing overcompensation. Raw materials are the engine of the economy, and it is not for nothing that the price of copper is considered a leading indicator of economic activity. In times of export restrictions, it is clear how dependent the world is on China and Russia. Without the crucial raw materials, production comes to a halt. We take a look at three companies and assess whether they are well-positioned in the raw materials sector for the upcoming year.
