Nel ASA, First Hydrogen, Volkswagen - Funding paves the way for green hydrogen
After the USD 750 billion US climate package, the European Union followed suit with the Green Deal Industrial Plan to remain competitive. At the end of March, the "EU Renewable Energy Directive" was rewritten with the goal of sourcing 45% of total power from renewables by 2030. This will add more speed to the expansion of renewable energies, which will ultimately also help hydrogen technology. The more green electricity is available, the cheaper green hydrogen becomes. At least EUR 100 billion are to be made available as subsidies by 2030. Today we look at 3 companies that could benefit from the subsidies.

The 3 Cs are currently doing the rounds: conflict, crisis and climate change. We cannot influence the war, but there seem to be many vested interests that can exploit the geopolitical uncertainty for their own benefit. With Credit Suisse, the potential crisis took shape again for the first time since 2008, but it has been averted for the time being. Then there is climate change, which we do feel from time to time. It is not only through the actions of the Last Generation that many measures have been taken, and more are being taken every day. In the discussion on sustainable energy production, there is a lot of confidence in hydrogen that the industrial breakthrough is imminent. What values should investors keep their eyes on?

New hydrogen stars First Hydrogen and SMA Solar - how is the share of Plug Power?
Are we currently seeing a change of favourites in cleantech stocks, particularly in the hydrogen sector? With Plug Power and Nel ASA, investors seem to be losing hope in profitable business models. Yet Plug Power has just reported a record. In contrast, First Hydrogen is going from strength to strength. While the commercial hydrogen vehicles are currently being tested in practice, the next generation of vehicles has been presented. Analysts continue to regard the share as undervalued. SMA Solar is increasingly becoming a cleantech powerhouse. The solar specialist is expanding its product portfolio in the smart home market and wants to get involved in the hydrogen sector.

Money from the state comes in handy for many companies. This is especially true when the challenges are great, and the capital requirements are immense. For large industrial companies, subsidies have always been part of the package. Just recently, Volkswagen, for example, picked up money in South Carolina. Canadian fuel cell manufacturer Ballard Power joins First Hydrogen for LCV test drive. The two companies are cooperating to produce the world's first hydrogen-powered vans. According to expert forecasts, the logistics industry will be worth EUR 13.7 billions by 2027. Change at Volkswagen's premium Audi brand is proceeding rather sluggishly. The regulations imposed by the EU are causing problems for CEO Duesmann, who sees it as unrealistic to implement everything that Brussels demands by 2025. Daimler Truck, on the other hand, is looking forward to a major order that will soon get 1.8 million people in the Hamburg metropolitan region moving. The Hamburg-Holstein transport authority signs a major order.

In recent years, the debate about the future of mobility has focused heavily on conventional passenger cars. Yet it is commercial vehicles that are responsible for the majority of emissions. Here, the competition between electromobility and hydrogen as drive systems for trucks and vans is now moving into the focus of the discussion. While electromobility has been on the rise for several years, hydrogen is also gaining in importance as an alternative drive system. Super Bowl spoils Tesla's bullish mood: Plug Power, First Hydrogen, Nel, ThyssenKrupp - Hydrogen is taking off!
In a true football thriller, the Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated their opponents Philadelphia Eagles, just before the end of the game. But it was not just on the field that fans were treated to a spectacle. The commercials during the billion-dollar live broadcast were also eye-catchers, as they are every year. One Super Bowl commercial was a good fight against Tesla's "Full Self Driving" (FSD) mode. Software entrepreneur Dan O'Dowd invested a total of USD 598,000 in his "Dawn Project" campaign. According to its homepage, its goal is to make computers safer for humanity. In the case of Tesla's FSD installations, the campaign sees this as not guaranteed and even judges them to be life-threatening for other road users. From Tesla's side, the content of the commercial was described as "fake". Exciting to see how this case will turn out. We turn away from e-mobility and look at the opportunities for hydrogen.

Hydrogen shares: New favourites First Hydrogen and PNE instead of Plug Power and ITM Power?
Hydrogen stocks have electrified investors' imaginations for years. But 2022 pure plays like Plug Power, Nel and ITM Power have disappointed. Not just in terms of share price performance but operationally as well. In contrast, newcomer First Hydrogen was one of the high flyers. The share price shot up by more than 100%, and the hydrogen commercial vehicles passed the tests. The Canadians want to continue to step on the gas in the current year. The share should benefit from this again; at CAD 200 million, it does not appear expensive. Now the German PNE is also entering the billion-dollar market. Following the end of takeover speculation, new impetus from green hydrogen is welcome. ITM Power sends a sign of life with an order from Linde.

Hydrogen vision or greenwashing? Amazon, First Hydrogen, Plug Power
Nowadays, various sustainability projects are under criticism, for example, when companies invest in forests to offset their CO2 emissions. Even the EU Commission has been accused of greenwashing following its decision to classify natural gas as sustainable.
