On the stock market, it is not just financial metrics that matter, but also expectations and potential turning points in a company's story. A billion-dollar AI-related contract, a milestone in the commodities sector and a dramatic collapse in earnings show how quickly opportunities and risks can be reshuffled within days. It is precisely this mix of euphoria, hope and sharp setbacks that makes these three very different stocks so compelling right now – and provides investors with valuable clues as to where potential lies and where caution may be warranted.

Generac Soars: Amazon's Billion-Dollar Contract Creates a New AI Winner

Generac (WKN: A0YGR4 | ISIN: US3687361044 | Ticker: GNRC) shares were among the big winners on Wall Street last week. After the share price briefly surged by more than 40% in after-hours trading, it closed the week about 17% higher at USD 205.00 during regular trading. At one point, it even reached USD 231.89. The catalyst is a billion-dollar order from Amazon, which suddenly propels Generac into the centre of the global AI infrastructure boom. The US company develops and manufactures power generators, battery storage systems, and other systems that ensure a reliable energy supply. In the future, Generac is set to supply emergency power generators for the data centers of Amazon (WKN: 906866 | ISIN: US0231351067 | Ticker: AMZN). For 2027 and 2028 alone, initial deliveries totaling approximately USD 2.4 billion are planned.

The scale is enormous. Generac generated approximately USD 4.21 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2025. The initial Amazon order thus represents more than half of Generac's previous annual revenue. At the same time, the agreement confirms that Generac could make the leap from a traditional supplier of residential and commercial emergency power systems to a key supplier for large data centres. Amazon also secures subscription rights to up to 1.69 million Generac shares at USD 200.93. Amazon can purchase about 308,000 shares immediately. The remaining rights will be unlocked in stages as Amazon's total payments for generators reach up to USD 8 billion. If fully exercised, the package would represent just under 3% of Generac's outstanding shares. Amazon thus not only gains a supplier but could also become a significant shareholder.

The deal highlights where the next bottleneck in the AI boom might arise. Nvidia supplies the chips, but without a stable power supply, the ever-larger data centres cannot operate reliably. Grid bottlenecks, rising energy consumption, and the need for high-performance backup systems make generators a critical piece of infrastructure. In other words, Generac is selling the shovels to those building the AI gold rush.

Despite the euphoria, risks remain. At current prices, Generac has a market capitalization of about USD 12.1 billion and a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of about 41. A significant portion of the expected growth is thus already priced in. Furthermore, large-scale deliveries will not begin until 2027, while Generac must first significantly expand its production capacity. Stock options could also dilute existing shareholders' stakes, at least somewhat, in the long term.

From a technical analysis perspective, the sharp profit-taking from the daily high stands out. The zone around USD 200 now forms the first key support level, while USD 236 to USD 237 is considered short-term resistance. Above that, the 52-week high of USD 296.44 could come back into focus. The Amazon contract fundamentally changes perceptions of Generac. The company is transforming from a generator manufacturer into a potential key supplier to the AI industry. The long-term growth potential is considerable—but after the share price surge, investors must decide how much of that future is already priced in.

Power Metallic Quantifies the Potential of the Lion Zone

Power Metallic Mines (WKN: A40S32 | ISIN: CA73929R1055 | Ticker: IVV1) has reached an important operational milestone at its Nisk Project in the Canadian province of Québec with the first resource estimate for the Lion Zone. As of the cut-off date of June 19, 2026, the model prepared by SGS Canada estimates the resource at 4.75 million metric tonnes with approximately 3.9% copper equivalent (CuEq), which corresponds to about 406 million pounds of CuEq. More than 85% of this falls into the higher-grade "Indicated" category—specifically, 4.15 million metric tonnes with 3.86% CuEq; an additional 601,000 metric tonnes with 4.01% CuEq are classified as "Inferred". For an exploration company of this size, this is particularly significant because it adds, for the first time, a robust resource base to growth momentum driven primarily by drilling—covering all drilling data published through April 19, 2026.

Not only is the grade striking, but so is the geology of the mineralization. According to the company, the high-grade zone begins at surface. Approximately 59% of the tonnage lies within an area potentially suitable for open-pit mining. The Lion Zone is a steeply dipping polymetallic vein that can be traced from the surface to a depth of approximately 675 m and contains palladium, platinum, gold, silver, nickel, and cobalt, in addition to copper. Metallurgical tests also showed, in the locked-cycle flotation trials conducted, a copper recovery rate from the ore of more than 98%, with subsequent concentrate grades exceeding 25% copper.

For the broader economic context, it is also important to note that the Lion Zone should not be viewed in isolation. The resource estimate for the Nisk Main deposit was updated in parallel, further strengthening the company's Nisk-Lion-Tiger system across its 330 km² property. Power Metallic holds an 80% stake in the project, with Critical Elements Lithium holding the remaining 20%. Infrastructure also remains a key locational advantage. The project is located near the Route du Nord and within reach of a 735-kV substation operated by Hydro-Québec, which, in the event of future development, significantly limits the cost of capital compared to more remote projects. At the same time, a two-year environmental program has been underway since January 2026 and is required for subsequent permitting steps for mine construction.

Operationally, the focus is now on the next value drivers. The technical NI 43-101 report is scheduled to be filed on SEDAR+ within 45 days of the September 8, 2026, announcement. Furthermore, the company is preparing a preliminary economic assessment (PEA), and it is currently reviewing bids from engineering firms. Five drill rigs are currently active on the project, with results from deeper drill holes below the previous mineral resource estimate expected starting in September 2026, which could positively impact resource growth. There is also movement in the capital markets. Following a CAD 28.2 million financing in June 2026, the stock is currently trading at around CAD 1.20 to 1.25, corresponding to a market capitalization of approximately CAD 325 million.

From an investor's perspective, Power Metallic continues to evolve quarter by quarter, shifting increasingly from an explorer to a mine developer. The resource estimate strengthens the company's already strong visibility, and a potential Nasdaq listing via ADRs is likely to significantly expand its capital market reach in the US. Since GBC Research's analyst price target stands at CAD 3.00 (EUR 1.87), the stock still has significant upside potential from its current level.

Bilfinger Plummets 21%: Earnings Warning Triggers Historic MDAX Crash

Last week is likely to remain in the memories of Bilfinger investors for a long time. While the German stock market gained ground, Bilfinger shares (WKN: 590900 | ISIN: DE0005909006 | Ticker: GBF) plummeted 21% to EUR 57.50. Last Thursday also marked the largest single-day loss in the company's history. Within a few hours, approximately EUR 600 million in market value was wiped out. But what exactly spooked investors so much? The industrial services provider, which maintains and modernizes facilities in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and energy sectors, among others, was forced to lower its forecast for 2026 once again. Bilfinger now expects revenue of only EUR 5.3 to 5.7 billion, down from the previous range of EUR 5.4 to 5.9 billion. At first glance, this revision seems manageable. The real shock, however, lies in profitability.

The adjusted EBITA margin is now expected to reach only 4.6 to 5.0%. Previously, management had projected a range of 5.8 to 6.2%. Including planned one-time charges, the expected margin drops even further to 3.2 to 3.6%. The forecast for free cash flow has also fallen significantly, from EUR 250 to 300 million to EUR 180 to 220 million. Bilfinger cites postponed customer investments and a noticeable increase in caution during the third quarter. In particular, the war in the Middle East, which has lasted longer than expected, is holding back customer decisions. This is a major concern for investors. Bilfinger's business model was most recently seen as benefiting from the industry's growing need for maintenance, energy, and modernization. Now it is becoming clear how quickly major projects are put on hold amid growing uncertainty.

The company aims to counter this trend with its "Agile" cost-cutting program. Globally, up to 1,500 of the approximately 31,000 jobs could be eliminated. The program will initially cost about EUR 75 million, but is expected to yield annual savings of the same amount starting in 2028. The problem: The costs are incurred immediately, while the full cost savings are not expected to materialize for around 2 years. At least Bilfinger is sticking to its medium-term targets for 2030. Revenue, including acquisitions, is expected to grow by an average of 8 to 10% annually, and the EBITA margin is projected to reach 8 to 9%. However, after the drastic downward revision of its forecast, management must first prove these targets remain realistic and credible.

From a technical analysis perspective, significant damage has been done. As recently as February, the stock was trading at around EUR 128; it has since lost more than half its value and is now more than 22% below the 200-day moving average. The previous support zone around EUR 72 was breached without resistance. It now remains to be seen whether the psychologically important EUR 60 level will act as a floor.

Following the historic sell-off, Bilfinger stock appears cheap at first glance. But a low share price does not automatically mean an attractive valuation. Only if management can prevent further guidance cuts and stabilize margins could the crash turn into an entry opportunity. Until then, Bilfinger remains a falling knife with considerable recovery potential – but equally significant risks.

Generac is benefiting from a billion-euro contract and has suddenly become the focus of investor interest as a potential key supplier for AI data centres. Power Metallic Mines has taken an important step toward becoming a mine developer with the first resource estimate for the Lion Zone, thereby strengthening its growth story. Bilfinger has squandered investor confidence with a significant profit warning, causing the stock to plummet to historic lows; for now, it remains nothing more than a risky turnaround play.

These are turbulent times for the stock markets. Interest rates are rising, bank stocks are weakening, and the number of mega-IPOs, including SpaceX and Anthropic, keeps growing. Parallels with previous stock-market crashes are becoming increasingly apparent. Yet many investors are still riding a wave of euphoria. The current bull market is already the longest in US stock-market history, driven largely by artificial intelligence. But the downside is becoming increasingly evident: valuations are high, and concentration in the major stock indices is enormous. Consider just one example: ten stocks, the so-called Magnificent Seven, along with Broadcom, AMD, and Micron, now account for 42% of the S&P 500. At these levels, there is little room for anything to go wrong. Even in this market environment, however, opportunities and risks coexist. Today, we take a closer look at Samsung, Volatus Aerospace and Equinox Gold.

Copper prices remain elevated despite ongoing market volatility. Recent developments in the physical market have provided plenty of reasons for concern. Production in Chile, by far the world's largest copper-producing country, remains subdued and is declining at some operations. Strikes are looming at several mines. Most recently, Antofagasta reported the start of a work stoppage at its Centinela mine in the Andean nation. Adding to these concerns, Deutsche Bank's commodities team highlighted the geopolitical aspects in a recent study. Copper is essential to virtually every sector of the economy, from construction and power grids to manufacturing and AI data centres. According to the study, the US and China now control, directly or indirectly, 70% of global copper production. This presents a challenge for Europe and many other regions, where securing reliable supplies of critical raw materials remains a key strategic priority. Against this backdrop, we take a closer look at the copper market and the geopolitical tensions shaping it through three stocks: Power Metallic Mines, BHP and Southern Copper.
