Palantir Technologies: The operating system of geopolitical power

US analytics specialist Palantir is riding a veritable wave of success, sprinting from one multi-month high to the next on the stock market. Recently, the share price climbed back above USD 200 in US trading, putting it on the doorstep of its previous all-time high. The share price is being driven by unabated demand for the group's AI platforms. Major banks such as Goldman Sachs upgraded their rating to “Buy” with a price target of USD 230, while Barclays set a target of USD 265. The key share-price driver remains sovereign AI, which lets governments and corporations process sensitive data under their full control.

Operationally, Palantir underlines this exceptional position with impressive growth figures. In the past quarter, total revenue jumped 93% to USD 1.935 billion, with revenue from US government agencies rising 90%. However, this success story is not free of geopolitical friction. While Washington is banking on huge “contracts worth tens of billions”, European countries such as France are trying to gradually reduce their dependence on US technology and switch to domestic providers. Moreover, the market demands a hefty price for this growth: With an estimated price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of well over 160, and in some cases even over 200 depending on the calculation, the shares carry an extremely demanding valuation and are unlikely to forgive any operational setbacks.

The stock’s chart is looking exceptionally strong right now. If it breaks through the all-time high at just above USD 209, the price targets set by Goldman or Barclays could be reached. Momentum is enormous and continues to fuel the hype surrounding the AI stock. However, prices below USD 170 threaten the trend.

Super Micro Computer: AI demand and legal tailwinds

Super Micro Computer provides the hardware backbone of global AI infrastructure, but its share price has recently been wild and volatile. After an already impressive rally over recent months from USD 26 to over USD 40, the stock has come under pressure again and most recently consolidated around USD 41 in NASDAQ trading. A case involving allegedly illegal exports of AI components to China via indirect routes through Southeast Asia caused a stir. What matters to investors, however, is that a former contractor pleaded guilty in court, while Super Micro itself has not been charged and reports no disruption to its ongoing business operations. This is a relief for Super Micro, as the uncertainty weighed on its image and on management. Super Micro has terminated its business relationships with the accused and is cooperating fully with the authorities.

Despite the headlines, the operating business is booming. In the 2026 financial year, revenue climbed 78% to USD 39.1 billion, while net profit rose to USD 2.23 billion. For the 2027 financial year, management is already targeting revenue of between USD 65 and 72 billion, supported by an order backlog of over USD 60 billion. Although working capital requirements are temporarily weighing on free cash flow, analysts are reacting calmly. Citigroup recently raised its price target from USD 39 to USD 45, while Mizuho adjusted its target to USD 43. This means the share price would have almost exhausted its potential at the current level, but from a technical perspective, there is still room to reach the USD 50–60 region. For that to happen, however, the share price would have to rise above USD 45.50. Only a drop below USD 34.50 would significantly darken the picture again. In that case, the USD 30 region could come back into focus.

Desert Gold Ventures: On the verge of becoming a gold producer

Far removed from the tech hype, Canadian explorer Desert Gold Ventures is taking the decisive step from pure project developer to profitable gold producer at its 440 km² SMSZ project in western Mali. In the company's update of September 16, 2026, management reported the successful transport of the gravity processing plant and the 650-kVA generator directly to the mine site. Despite weather-related delays during the rainy season and regional supply bottlenecks, foundation and assembly work is proceeding at full speed. Commissioning of the plant is planned for late October, to be followed by ramp-up in November and the first physical gold in the fourth quarter of 2026. Even if further delays occur, the foundation for the transformation into a gold producer is in place, and persistent work continues according to plan.

This operational turnaround is supported by solid site data. An extensive hydrogeological campaign confirmed on-site water supply through successful drilling, with inflow rates of up to 24 m³ per hour. The planned plant is initially intended to process 200 tonnes of ore per day and lay the foundation for a phased expansion.

At the current share price level of around CAD 0.13, the stock offers an attractive entry level for speculative investors. Technically, a sustained breakout above the resistance zone at CAD 0.15 would clear the way toward CAD 0.30. Analysts at GBC set a price target of CAD 0.95 (EUR 0.59) if the company succeeds, giving the stock considerable upside potential given its existing resources of 336,800 ounces in the Measured & Indicated (M&I) category and 879,900 ounces in the Inferred category.

Desert Gold share price chart

Conclusion

Palantir remains the dominant software specialist for government AI applications, but its current valuation requires strong nerves. Super Micro Computer scores points with solid order books in the server segment and cleanly separates its operations from the legacy legal issues of external service providers. Desert Gold looks like a promising commodities pick, with its gold production set to start at the end of 2026, potentially providing the decisive impetus for a re-rating.

Since 2019, Barrick Mining has invested about USD 5.3 billion in Tanzania's economy, according to its own figures, and it extended the licences for the North Mara gold mine by 15 years in early October. This provides planning certainty. Smaller companies also have big plans. Lahontan Gold agreed to acquire Emergent Metals in mid-September and is targeting a 2027 restart of the Santa Fe mine in Nevada. If it succeeds, the high gold price works in the company's favour. Agnico Eagle shows that major producers are also interested in emerging companies. We therefore take a closer look at Barrick Mining, Lahontan Gold and Agnico Eagle.

Power Metallic Mines, Infineon and Deutsche Telekom come from very different sectors. On the stock market, however, they currently share the same question: do the pullbacks offer buying opportunities? Following its recent resource estimate, Power Metallic is working on an initial economic assessment. Analysts see significant upside potential in the stock. At chipmaker Infineon, expectations for its AI business are rising, and investors are watching for the next results. At the telecommunications group, concerns about new competition from SpaceX are growing. Where are the greatest opportunities?

Gold at a Higher Low? Aya Gold & Silver, Phenom Resources and Perseus Mining in Focus

  • Gold

Gold has become particularly interesting from a technical analysis perspective in recent days. The precious metal has stabilised above USD 4,125 per ounce, despite briefly dipping below that level. The July low was approximately USD 150 lower. If the bottoming process that has been underway for several days succeeds, gold will have established a higher low. This is seen as extremely positive from a technical analysis perspective. That would take the July low out of focus for now, and markets could look north again. The next resistance level in that direction is still a long way off. Of course, the broader environment also needs to be supportive. Interest rate concerns remain acute. Professionals expect three interest rate increases by the Federal Reserve after the midterm elections in early November. In addition, earnings season begins this week – traditionally with the financial statements of the major investment banks. For gold investors, the intriguing question remains whether gold can function as a safe haven again. The Poles, the Chinese and others are certainly using current prices to replenish their central banks' holdings. We, in turn, look at the shares of Aya Gold & Silver, Phenom Resources and Perseus Mining.
