Buffett adds to oil stocks: Shell, Saturn Oil + Gas, BYD

  • Mining
  • Oil
  • Electromobility

Star investor Warren Buffett has long been a fan of oil stocks. So it is no surprise that he is taking advantage of the current weak oil price to add to his favourite stock (after Apple): Occidental Petroleum. Berkshire Hathaway now holds around 23% of the US oil producer. Those looking to take advantage of the low oil price opportunity should also look at Shell and Saturn Oil & Gas. Numerous analysts recommend Shell and Saturn Oil & Gas is on its way to becoming a well-known producer after several spectacular takeovers. There is also news on BYD. Also a favourite of Buffett, but it is currently in a difficult market environment. Here is what recent media reports suggest.

  • Biotechnology

Operationally, things are going well, a strong partner has been acquired, and experts are speculating about a takeover. And what are the German biotechs doing? At BioNTech, it will be exciting at the end of March, because the Mainz-based company needs new blockbusters. At Morphosys, analysts recently saw further downside potential. Will a new management board bring about a turnaround? Evotec also had little positive to report. However, an AI investment in the hype surrounding ChatGPT is making headlines.

BioNTech, Pfizer, Bayer and BioNxt Solutions on the biotech takeover merry-go-round

  • Biotechnology
  • Pharma

2023 could become the year of takeovers in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. This is what the experts at PwC expect. Thus, at the JP Morgan industry conference in San Francisco, not only were takeover candidates discussed but billion-dollar transactions were reported. One reason is the Inflation Reduction Act in the USA. This allows negotiations on drug prices. To prevent sales declines, Big Pharma must invest in new top sellers. And it is already doing so. The latest takeover rumor comes from BioNTech partner Pfizer. At BioNTech, the negative news currently outweighs the positive. Whether Bayer will take action with the boss or be taken over itself is not yet entirely clear. But there are also opportunities for investors in the smallcap sector. Take BioNxt Solutions, for example - the Canadian company with its operational focus in Germany recently secured new patents, and the share price has jumped.

Nel share slumps, a 60% chance with Bayer, Almonty Industries and BASF

  • Mining
  • Tungsten
  • Pharma
  • chemicals

The Nel share was one of the big daily losers yesterday. As a result, the upward trend has finally been broken, and analysts' opinions differ widely. Berenberg sees the BASF share as a hold after the publication of the quarterly figures. The price target is EUR 55. The figures are in line with expectations. However, the end of share buybacks and concerns about future competitiveness weigh on the stock. By contrast, analysts see up to 60% upside potential for Bayer. Almonty Industries is benefiting from the boom in electromobility and also defense spending. As the leading tungsten producer outside China, analysts suspect it could soon come to a bidding war.

BYD with share price jump and sales figures: What are American Lithium and Tocvan Ventures doing?

  • Mining
  • Lithium
  • Electromobility
  • Silver
  • Gold

While the investor event at Tesla was eagerly awaited yesterday, the shares of competitor BYD were among the day's winners, with a price jump of over 5%. After the sell-off of the previous days, the share benefited, among other things, from good economic indicators in China. Operationally, there are also positive things to report. There is also good newsflow at Tocvan Ventures. The gold and silver explorer has completed a capital increase and presented promising drill results. The news flow should continue as the year progresses, and the share could celebrate a strong comeback. Investors are waiting for news at American Lithium. The recent sell-off seems to be over, and the stock is picking up again. When will the uranium IPO come?

Nel ASA, TUI and Alpina Holdings: Shares with up to 100% price potential?

  • Investments
  • RealEstate

The reporting season is in full swing. The 2022 figures are an opportunity for investors to review their investment decisions and, if necessary, reposition themselves for 2023. For one of our three companies, analysts see up to 100% upside potential but also a "sell". The figures from Nel ASA were awaited with great excitement. Since last year, hydrogen companies have been good for a surprise every time they open their books - unfortunately, more of a negative one lately. Nel has also seen its fair share of good and bad news, and the first analysts have spoken out. At TUI, analyst comments are rather negative. Analyst opinion: Better than feared, but not good enough. In contrast, Alpina Holdings offers a favorable valuation and a dividend yield of 3%. Yet 2022 was relatively quiet for the real estate company from Singapore. In the future, margins and earnings should rise again.

Nordex, American Lithium, Globex Mining, Nel - New stock favourites?

  • Mining
  • Commodities
  • Lithium
  • renewableenergies

The energy transition is fuelling the raw materials boom. Solar and wind energy, hydrogen and electromobility - raw materials such as nickel, rare earths, lithium and cobalt are needed for all future technologies. Companies like Nordex and Nel ASA need the raw materials. The Nordex share has had a challenging year. But analysts see the light at the end of the tunnel. The wind turbine manufacturer is introducing a new product. At Nel, experts advise selling, and the annual figures are due soon from the Scandinavians. In contrast, Globex Mining continues to be traded as an outperformer even after the 50% rally since November 2022. The quality of the resource projects is high, and the share is being revalued. American Lithium has also performed strongly since Q4 2022. The uranium subsidiary is expected to provide the next share price jump. However, bad news is coming from China for the lithium sector. This time, Tesla is not instigating the price war.

Beware of Plug Power and Tesla. Better to bet on BYD and Defense Metals?

  • Mining
  • RareEarths
  • greenhydrogen
  • Electromobility

Caution is advised with e-car pioneer Tesla: Over the weekend, a video of an accident involving a Tesla and a stationary fire truck made the rounds on the Internet. This could once again bring the US authorities onto the scene. They had just ordered a "recall" for more than 360,000 vehicles. The reason was an increased risk of accidents. Tesla has to install an online update of the driver assistance software. And then Charlie Munger had also spoken out clearly for BYD and against Tesla. It was almost ridiculous, said the partner of Warren Buffett, how strongly BYD had asserted itself against Tesla. While Tesla is lowering prices, BYD has raised them. Experts also advise caution for Plug Power. Chart-wise, the stock is still battered, the estimates for the coming years seem ambitious, and a capital increase to finance the expansion is hardly avoidable. At the same time, electromobility and hydrogen are absolute topics of the future. Are investors therefore better off betting on BYD and Defense Metals?

Is Tesla hunter BYD almost 100% in? Has the Nel share run hot? When will Manuka Resources jump on?

  • Mining
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Electromobility

The Nel share has performed amazingly well in recent months. From mid-October to early February, it increased by around 70% to EUR 1.70. Since then, the stock has been taking a well-deserved breather. Will the rally continue? According to Goldman Sachs, the air is getting thin. But there is also positive news. There is also that of BYD. The Tesla hunter is building another battery factory, and analysts are raising their estimates after solid figures. Manuka Resources wants to present strong drilling results. For this purpose, a new drilling program near an existing mine has now been approved. In addition to gold and silver, high-grade copper deposits, zinc, and lead are expected. In addition, a complete reassessment is still possible.
