Defense Metals, Nordex, Xiaomi - Battle for raw materials intensifies

  • RareEarths

China is scaling back its magnesium production due to electricity problems. The Chinese government is aiming to reduce energy consumption and thus emissions. It will inevitably lead to supply bottlenecks worldwide, and in Germany, it will initially affect the metal industry. However, since China produces 90% of the world's magnesium, there are, in fact, no alternatives. Similar problems exist with tungsten and rare earths, needed for almost all new technologies, from renewable energies to consumer electronics and e-cars. If you want to reduce this dependence, you have to look for alternatives.

BP, Saturn Oil & Gas, Royal Dutch Shell - Oil stocks take off

  • Oil

Anyone who has to fill up their car at the moment will not be thrilled. Prices at gas stations rose in some cases to over EUR 2. The reason is the further rising oil price. An end to this trend is currently not in sight. Morgan Stanley analyst Martijn Rats raised his forecasts for the first quarter of 2022 to USD 95 and sees the oil price at USD 70 per barrel in the long term. Falling supply due to scaled-back investments is causing prices to rise. Due to climate protection and the targets set, investments in the development of new oil wells have been significantly reduced. In 2014 it was still USD 740 billion; 6 years later, it is only USD 350 billion. Oil producers are currently benefiting the most from this development, so we take a closer look at three companies.

Bayer, Sativa Wellness Group, MorphoSys - Can the pharmaceutical industry benefit from the new German government?

  • Biotechnology

The federal election is over, and the pharmaceutical industry has to adjust to the new political constellation. The industry is facing change. Digitization is an important topic. To not lose even more researchers to foreign countries, approval processes must be accelerated and bureaucracy reduced. If we always acted as decisively as we did during the pandemic, much more could be achieved. The new federal government is flirting with the legalization of cannabis. If this were to happen, the market would probably be huge. The next four years promise to be exciting.

Bayer, Water Ways Technologies, K+S - Will there be enough food for everyone in the future?

  • agritech

Humanity is growing and growing. In a few years, 10 billion people will populate the earth. The question then arises as to whether there will be enough food available in the future. One of the difficulties is climate change. If it gets hotter and hotter, less will grow, and if agricultural land becomes smaller, less food can be produced. To meet this challenge, yields on arable land must be increased. Fertilizers can help. Another critical factor will be water. Water is already scarce in some parts of the world, and drinking water is far from accessible to everyone everywhere. Today we analyze three companies that could play an important role in the future of food supply.

Alibaba, AdTiger, ProSiebenSat.1 Media - Christmas business makes the cash register ring in the advertising market

  • Digitization

Even before Corona, more and more people were shopping online, and the pandemic has further boosted this trend. Christmas is fast approaching, and this festival of gifts traditionally brings retailers the highest sales. Sitecore has learned from a survey that Christmas shopping will start earlier this year. Allianz, wallstreet:online, Commerzbank - Quo vadis stock markets?

  • Investments

The markets are highly nervous at the moment. First, the Corona numbers went up again, then the Chinese real estate giant Evergrande was on the verge of collapse, and the supply chains are still not back in step. The result was falling indexes. That automatically leads to more fear, as the Fear and Greed Index also showed. Last week, the market calmed down slightly, and the fear index dropped from 27 to 34 points. In Germany, there is also the fact that more people have dabbled in equity investments due to a lack of interest rates. According to the Global Wealth Report, the purchase of securities grew by 65%. Many of the newly added shareholders know only rising stock markets. Consolidation would not hurt the market. On the other hand, there is hardly any alternative to investing money at the moment. It remains exciting.

Nel ASA, dynaCERT, Plug Power - Hydrogen is part of the energy turnaround

  • Hydrogen

If the upcoming German government wants to achieve the energy transition and banish all fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas, part of the solution lies with hydrogen. On particularly sunny or windy days, some of the green electricity generated is simply lost. To avoid overloading the power lines, some of the electricity is given away abroad. Using this energy to produce green hydrogen would make the energy produced both storable and portable. If the price per kg of hydrogen could be reduced significantly, the greatest potential for this technology would automatically arise.
