Following the recent year-end rally on the world's stock markets, the chances of further price gains are good. Even in the last month of an eventful stock market year, plenty of activity remains. The course is being set with regard to the strategic goals for a successful 2024 as a whole. In addition, even in mid-December, major capital measures must be finalized before the books are closed.

While major global stock indices took a beating following the intensified conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, precious metals markets once again lived up to their reputation as a safe haven. After both gold and silver experienced a sharper correction in recent months, this event could be the starting signal for the next upward momentum.

ChatGPT and AI revolution reaches defence stocks: Palantir, Hensoldt, Star Navigation Systems

  • AI
  • Defense
  • Software

The euphoria around ChatGPT and artificial intelligence (AI) is currently electrifying companies and stockbrokers. Chip manufacturer Nvidia is the high flyer of the current year. But high-tech and AI also play an increasing role in the defence and armament sectors. Palantir is also benefiting from this. The share has jumped recently but is still far from its all-time high. The US military has struck again at the software company. But analysts are putting the brakes on the euphoria. Hot stock Star Navigation could soon take off. And MDAX group Hensoldt has taken a stake in an AI specialist and is working on new defence systems.

In order to achieve the climate targets, both politics and business are taking a high risk. Fossil fuels are to be replaced by alternative energy sources as quickly as possible. In turn, the consumption of metallic raw materials is increasing in order to build renewable, energy-efficient systems. In addition to copper, cobalt and nickel, the demand for rare earth metals, which have to be imported almost entirely from China, is increasing dramatically. Since the start of the Ukraine war, there has also been growing demand from the defence industry. The producers of critical metals ex-China are likely to profit from this.

BYD, Auxico Resources, Hensoldt, Rheinmetall - Prepared for the future

Russia's invasion of Ukraine at the end of February this year changed everything. While global stock markets fell into a state of shock, shares in defense companies boomed. With the arms buildup in the Western world, the future looks bright for companies that were still viewed critically before the war of aggression. However, in order to produce enough tanks, aircraft and other war equipment, the industry needs a variety of critical metals for which demand already exceeds supply.

High voltage is the order of the day here: Rheinmetall, Hensoldt, Kleos Space, and Kion under power!

  • Inflation

In the current environment, good advice is expensive. Some fundamental analyses provide the most favorable valuation parameters in 5 years, while at the same time, the depressive environment is causing one major sell-off after another. Not even a year ago, equities were even considered "no alternative" by banks and fund managers in pension provisioning. Although this is true in the very long term, this calculation only works if the portfolio management system above it correctly assesses the big waves and sets the proper risk ratio. When looking at individual stocks, it is worth first looking at some bombed-out shares.

K+S AG, Viva Gold, Rheinmetall, Hensoldt - Recession fears across the board

  • Gold

  • Investments

Increasing fears of a global recession are sending the capital markets into a tailspin. The DAX marked a new low for the year at 12,385 points, while the euro fell to its lowest level in almost 20 years against the US dollar due to weak economic data from the eurozone. In addition to the oil price, which has been booming for weeks, the precious metals markets also took a beating, with gold breaking below the psychologically important support zone at USD 1,800. Due to the partly exaggerated price reactions, however, there are long-term anti-cyclical buying opportunities.

Rheinmetall and Hensoldt stumble, good opportunities in XPhyto and Deutsche Telekom

  • Defense
  • Biotechnology

As a result of the shockingly weak economic data from the eurozone, the euro fell to its lowest level in almost 20 years with an exchange rate of 1.028 against the US dollar and is currently not far from parity. This crash was followed by European equities, with the DAX recording a new low for the year. Even last week's high flyers, defense stocks, were hit hard with double-digit daily losses. Despite the current correction, there are attractive long-term, anti-cyclical entry opportunities in many sectors at current levels.

Rheinmetall, Hensoldt, Kleos Space - These stocks have the Ukraine perspective!

  • Space

No one would have thought that the sense of peace and security that Europe has built over the past 75 years could dissolve in just 4 weeks. The war in Ukraine is taking on unimagined traits, with threats between East and West intensifying at what feels like 24-hour intervals. With each verbal attack by Joe Biden, communications become tighter and more threatening. What will our world look like after another 4 weeks? We do not know. At any rate, the capital markets are trying to price in the consequences of the war. They are still relatively optimistic, possibly even too positive, considering the enormous inflationary pushes and the still unclear economic effects. We look at some price outliers in this explosive environment.

Defense Metals, Hensoldt, Rheinmetall - Special boom for the defense industry

  • RareEarths
  • armaments

The war in Ukraine is giving the defense industry more weight. But what is the focus? Defense, deterrence, or war of aggression? The shares of industry representatives have recently benefited significantly from higher defense budgets and orders. What one thinks of this from a moral point of view is another matter. On a more sober note, stronger demand and earnings growth lay the groundwork for higher share prices.
