Born in Munich, he first studied economics and graduated in business administration at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in 1995. As he was involved with the stock market at a very early stage, he now has more than 30 years of experience in the capital markets. In the historic dot.com year 2000, he trained as a CEFA analyst in Frankfurt and has since then accompanied over 20 IPOs in Germany.

Until 2018, he held various positions at banks as an asset manager, capital market and macro expert as well as fundamental equity analyst. He is passionate about the energy, commodity and technology markets as well as the tactical and strategic asset allocation of liquid investment products. As an expert speaker at investment committee meetings of funds as well as at customer events, he can still describe the course of the 1987 crash, one of the major buying opportunities of the last 33 years on the stock market.

Today, he knows that the profit in shares is not necessarily the result of buying cheaply, but above all of avoiding mistakes and recognizing in good time when markets are ready to let air out. After all, in addition to basic fundamental analysis, investing in stocks is above all a phenomenon of global liquidity and this must be monitored regularly.

BYD, NIO, Varta, Kodiak Copper: No e-mobility without copper!

  • Copper

The copper price is just about to climb the USD 10,000 mark. For many market participants, the scenario for the industrial metal is set. Because since the public declaration of the automotive industry to make the e-vehicle the No. 1 means of transportation, the demand for copper and battery metals is shooting through the roof. Mine operators worldwide are alarmed, but how do you increase capacity in the short term when there are too few developed projects? We dive into the market.

Newmont Gold, Sibanye-Stillwater, Troilus Gold, NEL - Invest selectively in quality!

After such an extended bull market as we have experienced in the last 3 years, it is difficult for some investors to separate the wheat from the chaff. There are long-term fundamental trends, so-called megatrends such as digitalization or e-mobility, and currently also mining. Here, the medium-term parameters coincide with critical economic trends. But then there are also short-term, so-called hyped trends about which it can be argued how long they will last. While crypto attracts additional money, the hydrogen hype is already breaking off - and again, an important criterion comes to light: Timing!

Deutsche Bank, Heidelberger Druck, Steinhoff International, Desert Gold - The turnaround is coming!

  • Investments

Besides the leading stocks, there is always a market on the stock exchange for smaller and neglected stocks. Often, these stocks are awakened completely by chance, e.g., because a competitor company delivers good figures. Yesterday, the good figures of Deutsche Bank immediately pulled the whole sector up; even the boring Commerzbank was able to gain 3% at the peak. Good old Deutsche shot the bird with plus 11%, a long-awaited reawakening. From a chart perspective, the way would be clear from around EUR 11.30. But there are other stocks that should be put back on the radar.

Information is everything today! Those who have it at the right time have a significant head start. This is the case, for example, when company news is announced: Reading the newspaper the next day presents investors with a fait accompli today, the share has already reacted accordingly to the news the day before. In Xetra real-time trading, the adjustment to a new factual situation happens in a matter of seconds; sometimes, the swings even lead to intraday auctions to give investors some more time to enter limits. Machines dominate today's stock market trading; they trade according to rules and algorithms. We look at values in the environment of fast information.

BYD, NIO, Nikola, Nevada Copper - The Tesla hunters step on the gas!

The appointment of the candidates for chancellor in Germany has led to a significant increase in the Green Party. While at the same time, the current government parties have been punished. For consumers, this means continued tax incentives of the highest magnitude for so-called "environmentally friendly technologies," which, in addition to solar panels and wind power, include above all battery-powered mobility and hybrid vehicles. The German Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) is subsidizing the purchase of electric cars throughout Germany until the end of 2025 - this year, the bonus is particularly high. This environmental bonus supports not only the purchase but also the leasing of electric cars. One half of the subsidy comes from the manufacturer, the second half from BAFA. The stock market likes to hear this, and the manufacturers' shares are selling like hotcakes. It seems that this bull market can start again with every political statement.

Palantir, IBM, Apple, wallstreet:online AG - Watch out, now Big Data is flying away!

It is the decade of digitalization. One of the biggest challenges for any company is to analyze its customer data following existing data protection regulations. Although modern humans now willingly put almost everything online, the commercial use of data in Europe is particularly restricted. Every traveler at the border to Germany, for example, receives a friendly reminder about the applicable Corona regulations, but linking cell phone data and movement profiles is fortunately not permitted in Germany. We take a look at companies that have found their niche in the data jungle.

Triumph Gold, Barrick Gold, Ballard Power - The Returners!

The ECB does not change its expansionary monetary policy. In the short term, uncertainty remains high. In the course of the year, progressive vaccinations and a lifting of coronavirus restrictions should lead to a strong economic recovery, said ECB President Christine Lagarde yesterday at the press conference. Given the rampant government spending to fight the pandemic and rising stimulus budgets for the economy, a course correction on rising interest rates could not have been expected. After all, who is supposed to bear the high-interest costs when companies are no longer making profits, the treasury has to take on EUR 152 billion more in debt and tax revenues are also falling. All in all, this is an excellent opportunity for precious metals.

Defense Metals, Lynas, NEL - Profit from the shortage of metals!

  • RareEarths

Now it depends! The Bavarian Minister President's renunciation of the chancellor's post resulted in a strong shift to the left in the election polls. For the economy, this decision probably means more challenging conditions because the much-discussed shortage of raw materials and the bottleneck in high-tech components will hardly improve in the short term due to this change of political direction. Already today, there are question marks on the faces of industry leaders as to how Europe is to ensure its long-term supply security for essential metals. The new political direction vehemently calls for the climate neutrality of the European economy, but in Germany, we need good ideas rather than bans.

Crazy stock market days these are! No sooner had Coinbase gained the listing on NASDAQ than cryptocurrencies peaked at a massive turnover and the stock market goes into reverse. Everything that was saddled up in a month, bitcoin had lost in just 48 hours. But volatility is currently a well-known phenomenon, and so far, everything has gone well. The technology stocks hold the flag high, and the NDX could make up a handsome 15% in just 6 weeks; the new high is now 14,065 points. However, it is shaky in airy height because the last real correction was already 2 months ago. Today we are looking at the style and luxury industry because it is often suitable for reducing the volatility in the portfolio thanks to its stable earnings.

Silver Viper Minerals, Coinbase, SAP - There are always winners!

  • Silver

It is once again time to look at the precious metals, as the week started yesterday with slightly weaker stock prices and a rather battered crypto world. Its main protagonist, the Bitcoin, had made a jump to almost USD 65,000 in the last 5 days - but the euphoria was now abruptly curbed when it slid down by over USD 12,000. Not a good day for those who entered recently, but given the tenfold increase since the beginning of 2020, probably bearable for most. Where does this volatility come from? Market technicians speak of an incipient nervousness due to the sharp rise in stock and crypto prices in the last 3 years. Whatever the outcome, precious metals have profited in any case. Gold & silver plus 1-3% at the peak. We look at selected opportunity stocks.
