Meanwhile, its commercial vehicle subsidiary, Traton, is grappling with the key question: Should its diesel fleet be replaced? An innovative company from Toronto takes the position that nothing needs to be replaced at all: dynaCERT improves the efficiency and emissions of engines that have long been on the road. And Cummins, of all companies, a US giant that builds precisely such engines, provides the unintended proof that the transition away from the internal combustion engine will take a very long time. The EU wants to invest about EUR 25 billion in hydrogen over the next 10 years. To this end, the Commission has drafted the concept of a "Hydrogen Accelerator" to promote the use of renewable hydrogen. The "REPowerEU plan" launched for this purpose aims to produce 10 million tons of renewable hydrogen within the EU by 2030 and to import a further 10 million tons.
