On the stock market, facts matter most. New study results, strong figures and solid operational records tend to attract investor attention and often drive share prices higher. These three stocks deserve a closer look: BioNxt Solutions is approaching its first human study, CrowdStrike has reported a record quarter, and Shell is benefiting from exceptionally high refining margins. Three very different stocks, each offering opportunities alongside distinct risks. We take a closer look at these compelling names in our stock check.

BioNxt Solutions: The major clinical trial draws closer

The Canadian company BioNxt Solutions aims to make established active ingredients easier to administer. Its core technology is an ultra-thin drug film, which dissolves under the tongue. The active ingredient enters the body through the oral mucosa, eliminating the need for water or swallowing a tablet. This could be particularly beneficial for patients with neurological disorders.

The most advanced program is BNT23001, a sublingual formulation of cladribine for patients with multiple sclerosis. The active ingredient is well established and is marketed in tablet form under the brand name Mavenclad. BioNxt is therefore not developing an entirely new molecule, but a new dosage form. This reduces the scientific risk compared with a conventional biotech project, but does not eliminate it.

The animal-model data provide an encouraging initial signal. In a study involving minipigs, BioNxt's film achieved a peak drug concentration of 11.27 nanograms per millilitre at the same dose, compared with 9.44 for the reference tablet. Total drug exposure amounted to 39.46 versus 28.11 hours × nanograms per millilitre. These results suggest improved absorption. However, a crucial caveat remains: the data are preclinical. Whether the advantage is confirmed in humans remains to be seen.

This is precisely where the next major share price catalyst lies. BioNxt has completed the investigational medicinal product dossier, or IMPD. According to the company, it has also completed the GMP process, the clinical trial batch, local tolerability tests and the study protocol. Following the final technical review, the application for a randomised crossover study in Europe is to be submitted. This will directly compare BNT23001 with Mavenclad. According to the company, the human trial for November and December 2026 is planned – subject to regulatory approval.

If comparable bioavailability can be demonstrated, BioNxt could use the European hybrid approval pathway. This would allow the company to rely partly on the reference product's existing safety and efficacy data. This could save time and development costs. If bioequivalence is not demonstrated, however, the company could conduct further preclinical or clinical studies. For the shares, the human trial is therefore the most important valuation milestone to date.

Patent protection is also valuable. The European patent for the sublingual cladribine formulation was granted in March 2026 and has uniform effect in 18 EU countries. A Eurasian patent is also in place; further applications, including for the USA, Canada and Japan, are planned. BioNxt is seeking partnerships, regional or global licences and co-development models. Alongside positive human data, a solid pharmaceutical deal would be the second potential lever.

The latest news also broadens the pipeline. A comparative animal study for a sublingual everolimus film for immunosuppression following organ transplants was launched in September. The semaglutide programme is in formulation development. Both projects increase the potential for additional partnerships, but are still at a very early stage and currently barely justify a high standalone valuation.

The downside is in the balance sheet. The company incurred a total loss of CAD 5.46 million in the first half. There was no revenue yet. At the end of June, BioNxt had CAD 1.2 million in cash and a working capital deficit of CAD 5.39 million. The company stated that the funds are insufficient for the planned activities and that additional capital is needed. In August, convertible bonds totalling CAD 5.48 million were extended by one year. In return, the creditors received 16.9 million new warrants with an exercise price of CAD 0.50.

BioNxt is not a conventional pharmaceutical stock, but a speculative bet on clinical validation and a licensing partner. Positive human data could sharply increase the value of the platform. Delays, weak results or financing on unfavourable terms would have the opposite effect. Investors willing to take risks can now build a small position, but should closely monitor the CTA application, the trial's start, and changes in the liquidity buffer.

CrowdStrike: AI becomes a growth engine

At CrowdStrike it is becoming clear that artificial intelligence does not make the booming cybersecurity sector redundant, but increases demand. In the second quarter of the 2026/27 financial year, revenue rose by 26% to USD 1.47 billion, while annual recurring revenue grew by 25% to USD 5.84 billion. At USD 333 million, net new annual recurring revenue (ARR) reached a record. Free cash flow also impressed at USD 377 million.

Management subsequently raised its full-year revenue forecast to USD 5.99–6.01 billion. Falcon Flex is performing particularly strongly: ARR from customers using this flexible licensing model has doubled to more than USD 2.29 billion. The more modules customers use, the greater the retention and revenue potential.

The problem is the price. Following the rally, consensus estimates put CrowdStrike at 47 times expected revenue and a 2027 P/E ratio of more than 200. Despite the high valuation, many analysts currently continue to recommend buying. Overall, 40 analysts currently recommend Buy and 13 Hold. Only 1 research analyst recommends Sell. Nevertheless, even strong growth leaves little room for disappointment at this level. Investors should therefore remain cautious. While CrowdStrike remains a structural AI winner, new investors should look to pullbacks on weaker stock market days rather than buying without price limits.

Shell: Refineries print money

Shell's quarterly outlook offers a preview of the results on October 29. The indicative refining margin jumped from USD 24 to USD 42 per barrel in the third quarter. At the same time, production in the liquefied natural gas business is expected to rise from 631,000 to between 740,000 and 780,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day – partly thanks to the acquired ARC Resources operations.

It is not all plain sailing. The chemicals margin fell from USD 270 to USD 208 per tonne, and low Rhine water levels are weighing on refinery utilisation. Shell also expects a cash outflow of around USD 2.5 billion for German emissions allowances. Nevertheless, the strong refining and trading business is likely to shape the quarter.

According to consensus estimates, Shell is valued at only around eight times expected earnings for 2026. Shell is expected to return around 40 to 50% of operating cash flow to shareholders through dividends and buybacks. The exceptional margins will not last forever, but Shell has multiple sources of earnings, from the wellhead to LNG trading. Of the three stocks, Shell is the most defensive choice – with a dividend, a low valuation and further share price upside. Analysts also believe Shell can deliver further share price gains. There are 12 Buy recommendations versus 9 Hold ratings, with no Sell recommendations. On average, experts set the fair value at just under GBP 4.05, about 15% above the current share price. Those looking to invest for the long term and more conservatively can take a closer look at Shell shares as a portfolio addition.

Conclusion

The three stocks cover very different risk categories. BioNxt offers the greatest percentage upside, but also the highest risk. CrowdStrike delivers the strongest structural growth, but its valuation is demanding. Shell scores well on cash flow and distributions. Those speculating should place only a small bet on BioNxt's forthcoming human trial. Those seeking quality should wait for pullbacks in CrowdStrike. For more conservative investors, Shell remains the trio's most solid stock.

After 600% Gains with Moderna! Cardiol Therapeutics Poised for a Revaluation - Analysts See Significant Upside Potential

  • Biotech
  • Research

With gains of more than 600%, Moderna is the Nasdaq’s best-performing stock so far this year. Much of its future growth potential may already be priced in, prompting Citigroup to recommend selling shares in the mRNA specialist. Analysts, however, see significant upside potential in another biotech company: Cardiol Therapeutics. The Canadian biotechnology company focuses on inflammatory heart diseases, and its lead drug candidate, CardiolRx™, is already in Phase 3 clinical trials. Following strong Phase 2 data, the stock more than doubled between July and September. After a subsequent pullback, could this present an attractive entry opportunity? In a recent interview, the CEO explains why he remains optimistic. Two research firms recommend buying the stock and see the potential for a multiple-fold increase in its share price.
