Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla make up the "Magnificent Seven" and account for roughly one-third of the S&P 500's market capitalization. When two of these heavyweights, Alphabet and Tesla, come under pressure, the broader market feels the impact. Their declines alone shaved around 0.6% off the S&P 500, while the VIX volatility index surged by as much as 17%. Meanwhile, WTI crude oil climbed nearly 5% to above USD 90 per barrel, boosting energy stocks such as Chevron and ExxonMobil. Industrial names, including Caterpillar and Deere, also gained ground.
