Moderna has already made the big leap. Yet the best trial data in the company's history sent the shares tumbling, because the success was already priced in. The situation is different for two stocks that have also reached crucial milestones but still attract little attention on the stock market. Desert Gold Ventures is on the verge of its first gold production in Mali. Nuclear power specialist Oklo has commissioned its first reactor, but still needs a little more time before its commercial breakthrough. Analysts' price targets for both shares are several times their current prices.

Who Profits When Patents Expire? The Billion-Euro Race Between Formycon, Fresenius and Pfizer

When patent protection for high-revenue biopharmaceuticals expires, a billion-euro market for follow-on products emerges. Michael Sen, head of the German healthcare group Fresenius SE, cites an impressive figure. By 2035, this could generate around EUR 180 billion in revenue. In particular, biosimilars, biotechnologically produced follow-on medicines that are highly similar in composition to the original medicine and equivalent in quality, efficacy and safety, are forecast to grow significantly. Moreover, biosimilars can strengthen competition and reduce treatment costs. Formycon stands out as a pure play. The company recently reached a crucial milestone. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) accepted the marketing authorisation application, the first publicly known application of its kind, for FYB206, a biosimilar candidate to the cancer medicine Keytruda, for review. Keytruda generates around USD 32 billion in annual revenue, making it the world's highest-revenue medicine. Fresenius is strengthening its positioning in the biosimilar sector through an acquisition. Pfizer needs new growth drivers. Who is best positioned for the year-end rally?

At the same time, BioNTech remains synonymous with cutting-edge mRNA technology, with the market eagerly awaiting the next phase after the pandemic. In this dynamic environment, Vidac Pharma is emerging as a particularly bright star in the biopharmaceutical sky, causing a sensation with its unique method of specifically normalizing the metabolism of cancer cells.
