Big Dividends from Mercedes, RE Royalties and British American Tobacco

The stock markets are entering a challenging phase. Stock market history shows that in years with US midterm elections, the preceding months are often volatile and regularly result in losses. August and September, in particular, tend to show significant weakness. This does not necessarily mean the pattern will repeat, but recent market developments are sending warning signals. Optimism is running very high, which makes indices vulnerable to corrections. The latest Bank of America fund manager survey made this clear: professional investors' cash allocation currently stands at just 3.5%, a historically low level. In other words, funds have relatively little capital available to deploy into purchases during market setbacks. One alternative during such phases is high-dividend stocks, which also offer long-term opportunities. That is why today we are taking a closer look at Mercedes-Benz, RE Royalties and British American Tobacco.

Summer is in its hot phase, and there is no sign that the global stock markets are cooling down. In a fiery speech at Bitcoin 2024 in Nashville, he emphasized that Bitcoin would rise like never before under his presidency.

Cantourage Group SE, Amazon, British American Tobacco: Stockpiling between medical innovation and dividend history

  • Cannabis
  • Healthcare
  • AI

The Berlin-based company Cantourage, which specializes in the distribution of medical cannabis, is experiencing promising growth in the booming medical cannabis market. The global market for the plant's medical use is expected to have reached around USD 12.92 billion since 2021 and is projected to grow to USD 23.97 billion by 2028 at an average CAGR of 13.16%. Cantourage continues to expand its strong international distribution network with its innovative Fast Track Access platform. The Company even has a chance to win in the "Most Innovative Business Strategy" category at the 2023 European Small and Midcap Awards in November. Unlike other medical cannabis producers, Cantourage does not grow its own plants. Just as Uber doesn't own cars and AirBnB doesn't own hotels, Cantourage relies on strong distribution power in Healthcare. Healthcare is also attractive to Amazon again. Through mergers and acquisitions involving an online pharmacy and a thriving network of doctors, the US company is now investing in generative AI beyond ChatGPT. Meanwhile, historic dividend king British American Tobacco faces decline and bans.

BAT, Barrick Gold, Osino Resources: Supposed political risks, a burden, and an opportunity

Businesses, like citizens, operate within the regulatory framework. In this way, the state guarantees peaceful coexistence. But what if the legal framework changes? It is easy for individuals to adapt to new circumstances. It can be more challenging for companies - for example, if a business model is shaken by regulatory requirements. The best example is the tobacco company BAT. Recently, the German Bundesrat cleared the way for a law that further restricts advertising for tobacco products. Even e-cigarettes, celebrated by the industry as a source of hope, will be subject to the likely ban. Cinema advertising, marketing activities, etc will also be restricted in the future.
