Despite all international upheavals, the energy and climate turnaround remains one of the dominant issues of our time. For the moment, the race between hydrogen-based and battery-electric propulsion seems to have been decided. Tesla, Polestar, Lucid - at least in private transport, battery technology has currently prevailed. The crux of the matter remains the range, which is determined by the capacity of the electricity storage units. But energy generation also remains exciting in the course of the energy transition. So-called metamaterials, which redirect light and heat, can decisively improve our power generation.

Will the international retail group Steinhoff manage the turnaround? After the positively concluded settlement and the approval of the courts in South Africa, hope is germinating. Now the focus is on reducing the enormous debt burden and the possible sale of the silverware. New technologies are entering the mainstream ever faster. Cloud computing, machine learning using artificial intelligence and autonomous driving are coming out of the research departments and are influencing the economy and society to a great extent. In materials management, too, research is being conducted into new materials that have the prerequisites for turning the tide. Metamaterials are artificial materials that have specific optical, magnetic or electrical properties that do not exist in nature. A rosy future lies ahead for the market leader.
