What is next for gold? Since the beginning of November, gold prices have risen rapidly by over USD 300. Inflation figures in the US fell significantly during these months. Last week, therefore, all eyes were again on the inflation data in the US. Inflation fell in January, but not as much as experts had expected. Interest rate fears are already spreading again, pushing the indices down. If interest rates continue to rise, this will draw investors away from the gold market. However, state banks continue to buy gold. In January, Turkey purchased 68 tons of gold. We take a closer look at three gold companies.

The year 2023 has shown its friendly side in the first weeks. Despite highs in the indices, however, there is light and shade. For example, the Association for Consumer Research (ACR) recently found in a survey that consumers in Germany are entering the new year with significantly more confidence in economic development. This means that the ACR consumer climate index has risen for the fourth time in succession. The propensity to buy things nevertheless remains at a very low level. The new purchases indicator thus fell by 2.4 points to minus 18.7 points. Uncertainty in the face of crises and inflation remains very pronounced, with many households expecting significantly higher heating bills in the coming months. Many are putting money aside for this, which is now not being used for other expenses. However, shares are being bought, and we give a few examples.

Of course, not all commodities will perform equally well. There is a supply problem in some areas. In the US, for example, experts are critical of corn or soybean inventories. Therefore, we look at three companies and shed light on whether the commodity produced could experience a boom in 2023.

The volatile and weak stock market year 2022 is history, but the issues with rising inflation combined with fears of recession as well as the uncertainties in geopolitics with existing and threatening conflicts in Ukraine and Taiwan remain. Thus, at least the high volatility is likely to continue. Despite all the imponderables, many experts see opportunities for a thoroughly positive stock market year. In the gold sector, too, new price targets beyond 2000 are already being passed around. Many shares from this sector therefore offer attractive long-term entry opportunities at a reduced level.

Elon Musk had a calculated fortune of around USD 280 billion at the peak of the Tesla share. After the crash of the miracle share and the purchase of Twitter, he is now said to own around USD 150 billion less. According to calculations by the analysis firm Factset, Musk still holds around 14% of the shares in electric car manufacturer Tesla. Here alone, there is a gaping loss of over USD 100 billion. New at the world's top for the first time is a Frenchman: Bernard Arnault, the 73-year-old CEO and co-owner of the luxury group LVMH. According to the US magazine Forbes, he has a total fortune of USD 186 billion - and thus passes Musk and Buffet. Has the "climate wonder weapon" electromobility already seen its horizon?

Gazprom, Alerio Gold, ThyssenKrupp: Ukraine conflict resolution as a door opener?

At the moment, the world is holding its breath. Not since the end of the Cold War have so many soldiers come together on European soil as is currently the case on the border between Russia and Ukraine. While German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is focusing on diplomacy, Kiev and the Baltic states would like to see more signals of deterrence. We will see which path is the better one or whether, in the end, a combination will once again avert the worst-case scenario. However, the fact is that the threat of war is rattling the markets. We profile three stocks.
